Re: Song Fight! Live 2020 SF Bay Area Aug 28/29
Great venue, and seems like it’s shaping up to be a great lineup! Very sad I can’t be there. 2021, baby!

Re: Song Fight! Live #20 in 2020 for Song Fight! 20th anniversary SF Bay Area
So, the Berkeley venue we used last time has asked us if we would like August 28th and 29th. That's the Friday and Saturday of the last weekend in August. What do y'all think about that? Bad weekend for me, but you should absolutely not count mine as an important vote. It would make me very sad to ...

Re: Backup Planning - what's your scheme?
I always thought it might be neat to dump my projects into git lfs. I often want to start projects on my laptop and continue on my desktop or vice-versa, and it seems like that would be a lot easier to keep track of than my current technique of “rsync shitcircus”. But then again in the absence of a ...

I currently do time machine to an external USB drive, but I don’t like it. I’ve had way too many drive failures. I tried to do time machine over iSCSI to a freebsd machine, but every (I tried a few) OSX initiator was… less than reliable. There must be a better answer, c’mon, it’s 2020, people. Flyin...

One of my weeknight go-tos is taco night followed by using up the leftover taco meat in chili. My recipe is more or less the same as JB’s, though I don’t do corn in mine (serve with cornbread instead). I like to do a tablespoon each of dark chili powder, chipoatle chili powder, and smoked paprika, a...

for acoustic I record with the MXL in the room a foot or two away, Yikes, and also YES! I tend to mic acoustic about 6 inches away with the mic pointed where the neck meets the body. I'd expect a mic a foot or two away to bring in a ton of the room sound, which could be totally awesome, or not - de...

I was all set to listen to this and say, “pffft, get over yourselves.” But, no. it _is_ that bad.
I showed it to my kids and my daughter said, “Ugh! What if *my kids* learn this version!"

I read through the comment thread looking for two things: “That’s the wurst song I’ve ever heard”; and argument over the tonal properties of knackwurst vs. weisswurst etc. I was not disappointed.

I am making crock pot shredded chicken today. Works well as filling for tacos, enchiladas, tamales… Delicious, easy to rework leftovers, and almost zero work. 2 pounds chicken breasts (I actually prefer thighs; shredding is more work, but they are tastier IMO) 1 tablespoon olive oil (use if you are ...

Check out my friend's spooky new music video, just released today! I wasn't involved in any of the actual music-making, but I am the Ominous Necromancer playing melodica and bass in the video. My husband is the Grim Reaper. I love the synth bassline. That looks like a CZ5000 in the video, was that ...

You may know Big Data from the hit song “ Dangerous ” off the album 2.0. You definitely have heard it somewhere at some point. Wow, I live under a rock. Had heard the song, but somehow missed out on the video. That is great. All it needs is a third level of footage of the pitch meeting where they p...

I was talking with a coworker the other day about forgotten bands of the 80s, and I mentioned the Slickee Boys. This video is amazing. Peak 80s plus a dash of cable access with a side of VHS. Worth it for the intro alone.
