Re: Nur Ein XVI: Round Three "Pleasant Row"

I’ve been enjoying the challenges this year. They strike the right balance between difficult and inspiring. Good work, judges!

Re: Nur Ein XVI: Round Two "Drag Me Around"

The intro of my song is the riff from round 0 morphed into the new song. The outro of my song is the part of the field recording that comes before the start of my round 1 song. Lyrically, the narrative goes along with round 0 and round 1. Genre-wise, it's a good in-between song for a modern album, a...

Re: Nur Ein XVI - Drag Me Around

This song (attempts to?) bridges round 0 and round 1 both lyrically and sonically. You better take Or you’ll be taken You better speak Or you’ll be spoken to You better wake Or you’ll be woken up Just like me from the firey cackles of hell They’ve been dragging me around Making me do their bidding T...

Well, you see, I wasn't posting about the challenge but rather apologizing in advance for this 90s pastiche I'm making.

Perhaps the songs should be a little delayed, too. Oh wait we don’t have that excuse anymore now that the title is announced.

Re: Nur Ein XVI: Round Two "Drag Me Around"

When I think of distinct songs blending together, I am fondly reminded of my youth and this song between songs:

In fact, that whole album. Apologies in advance, j$.

Re: Nur Ein XVI - Pareidolia

Well this escalated quick I wish I had a second to reflect on what just happened Last week I was feeling fine But now I’m left questions why I partake in this foolishness I set aside some time to walk Outside, myself, with just my thoughts I focus on what’s important And you know I see your face eve...

Re: Nur Ein XVI: Round One "Pareidolia"

I wrote a song inspired by my daily walks and so I took a walk with my FIELD RECORDING EQUIPMENT to gather some AUDIO for insertion into this SONG MUSIC TRACK. It's a subtle, boring take but I hope the track makes up for it (J$'s narration voice: it doesn't)

Re: Nur Ein XVI: Round Zero "Semiprecious"

it was made from a semiprecious stone, lapis lazuli Wow. My first idea was to write a song about lapis lazuli rosary beads. Paint derived from the stone was traditionally used to depict Mother Mary. Whiteley died from a heroin overdose in the early 90s, and the way he talked about ultramarine had t...

Re: Nur Ein XVI: Round Zero "Semiprecious"

I made a song. Songs have repeating elements. I made sure to gradually emphasize some of my many repeating elements.

The song is about someone who profits from disassembling precious things. Ergo, “semiprecious” is wordplay.

I hope this matching criteria is sufficient to make it to round 1.

Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

Trump was entertaining. Lots of good quotes. But I’m glad that show got cancelled.

Biden’s Inauguration was off the hook and I am more than pleased by the messaging.

Caravan Ray, didn’t you bet me that we wouldn’t have a government by now?

Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

The good news is that even with COVID travel restrictions -Americans cans still enjoy US interference in a democratically elected government - but at least they can do it at home this year. You say a lot of dumb stuff, but kudos. Perfect. You can go on break for 2021. Iraq to send peacekeeping forc...

If we’re basically saying “recording office”, I try to keep anything non-essential out of it so I can focus. Most of my computer and AV cables/doodads are in a Home Depot Husky toolchest/workbench in the garage. https://www.homedepot.com/p/303101236 Everything else fits in my desk drawer or is a per...

Can confirm: Reaper can record VST output from input.

I don’t need a new piece of hardware. Especially not for the basic case.

But... If there is software that can transcribe beatboxing, then I’m interested in that.

It will be fine Mike. Your 250 year old Constitution is working perfectly.
Ugh, that’s the problem. The first amendment means we all get to yell at each other at the top of our lungs about things we feel very strongly about.

IIRC Obama got trigger happy near the end of his term. Whereas Trump seems to...
