Re: What do you see? (Sing Of The Times prefight)

In at 12:56! I think that's the closest I've cut it to the deadline. Ended up scrapping the thing I was trying and went back to the old thing but changed it a lot. Here's a thing. A long one. 2 minutes, 36 seconds!

Re: What do you see? (Sing Of The Times prefight)

usually I come up with an idea early and spend all week working on it even after I grow to hate the initial idea (happens too often) . this time I decided to try a bunch of ideas first to try to find one I actually like. I have one now, but the problem is of course leaves me less time to do all the ...

Re: Time to post some (inter)stellar (The Thirteenth Moon Reviews)

thanks vowl/vom on the key change thing, I might try that again but.. better - and if your "sugary goo" was a failed experiment, looking forward to hearing a successful experiment! still love that one. I was surprised it did poorly in the votes, but I guess that goes back to how subjective...

Re: Time to post some (inter)stellar (The Thirteenth Moon Reviews)

Cool podcast guys, as always listened to it all, not just my bit, find your comments on the other songs interesting too. I tend to generally agree with your views although not always. Re: my chorus, it's a sudden key change from C in the verse to E in the chorus, that was the idea, an experiment. I ...

Re: Time to post some (inter)stellar (The Thirteenth Moon Reviews)

PACO What a great groove on the verse. Love the bass. The percussion is great too. The lyrics are cool. And the vocal harmonies. I think you killed this one. Delicious guitar solo, the tone there just eats my face. Awesome! Chorus may be not quite as cool as the verse but overall one of my favorite ...

Re: Tasting the (The Sugary Goo Inside reviews)

saw this story and it reminded me of Vom Vorton's track: https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2018/12/31/679832549/when-too-cute-is-too-much-the-brain-can-get-aggressive the article says that this cute aggression was "first described in 2015" but I remember this concept being in Punch...

Re: It's on the calendar (The Thirteenth Moon prefight)

I was gonna remix and resubmit but decided against it. It's fun trying new things. My arrangement stemmed from a misunderstanding of the optional challenge. But I've decided to leave it as it has grown on me. what does it mean? (/I don't know/) ( & big thanks to Lunkhead for mastering these fig...

Re: Tasting the (The Sugary Goo Inside reviews)

great podcast as usual two jerks, agree with your notes on my too fast fade-out ending; I will get over my fetish for brevity and make sure my endings are better in the future even if it means being a few seconds longer. also as you can see from my own reviews I very much agree with Vom's track bein...

Re: SpinTunes 15 Round 4 Challenge (Final Round)

Cool podcast guys. I have to admit I didn't like this challenge and found it very frustrating and you're right I was trying to shoe-horn this challenge into a more traditional structure which I guess you could see as sort of skirting it. Also totally agree that it doesn't "flow" right, I j...

Re: Tasting the (The Sugary Goo Inside reviews)

Pretty fun fight with some unusual songs, maybe it was the optional challenge or the strange title that lead people there. Pigfarmer Jr : You almost beat me for shortest song, nice. I do appreciate the brevity. Guitar & vocal sound pretty good on the intro/verse. The chorus with the electric gui...

It was a good song, just not my style, I try to be objective with my votes. Or some combo of objective and gut reaction. Anyway: Congrats to Faster Jackalope!

Cool. Thanks Micah! Will do. my reviews: Zoe Gray: I really like the main bit "I like to sit alone on my roof writing..." it's really pretty and nicely performed and I also really love how you add another layer of vocals each time through. Unfortunately for me the challenge I think lead th...

Re: SpinTunes 15 Round 4 Challenge (Final Round)

I'm unsure if I'm supposed to send in a vote for this thing; if I get a vote #1 is definitely going to Faster Jackalope, imo it's not even close. No offense intended to the other three, except to Third Cat. Screw that guy. I just think this challenge was... challenging. It's very difficult to write ...

Re: SpinTunes 15 - Round 4 - It Grows On You

"Feel My Trouble" - Third Cat intro just like any other kid dreamed of being a star but I never really did get all that far. verse 1 growing old at this dead-end job Monday night headed out to the bar and I'll have a shot of Jack chorus make it a double I don't want to feel my trouble. ve...

Re: Cutting corners on your mix? (They Know reviews)

oh yeah; on the file naming I realized I had been sometimes (on about half of my entries so far) been capitalizing my band name like ThirdCat instead of thirdcat, will fix that for future entries. James Owens - yes my ending bit is kind of just tacked on there and doesn't really fit the rest of it, ...

Re: Cutting corners on your mix? (They Know reviews)

OG Lawn Darts - Love the groove. Nice mix of keys and guitars. The overall sounds nice & open, everything is clear. Vocals sit nicely in the mix and have a nice bit of attitude to them. Really nice touch having the vocals doubled at certain points ("they know" "we know") to ...

Re: Cutting corners on your mix? (They Know reviews)

Just listened to all of the songs straight through and I think this is one of my favorite fights so far, lots of cool stuff. Will do some reviews after more listens. James Owens stood out for me again - this time reminded me of David Bowie a bit. Cool topical lyrics that drew me in too. But really t...

I'll take it! definitely wasn't expecting it for this one but I'll take it. the cat takes what he can get. guess it's a bit easier to get a win(tie) when there's only 5 entries. congrats to James Owens for real though, thought his song was pretty pretty... pretty good. (/larrydavid/)

Not sure how I would have ranked 'em as a judge but I think Vom Vorton's was my personal favorite of the round. Appreciate all of the feedback from the judges, the in-depth reviews are interesting.
