REAPER is a good choice. You can use it for free indefinitely, but it nags you more and more on startup.

When I was in NYC last summer I happened to pop into Sidewalk. That's a cool little venue. Nice score!

Here's a rarity... a song I wrote without any kinds of prompts (such as Song Fight or RPM)...

Re: Nur Ein XI
Haha, I love the theme song... and now I know how to pronounce Nur Ein. I was pronouncing it more like the women's name Noreen. As in, rhyming with "Door" and "Spleen". I'm gonna try again, even though both of my attempts so far have gone very badly. Although, on the bright side,...

Re: 3/22/16 Rhymeless
I guess I never really notice one way or another. Unless the rhymes are heavy handed, then it can be a put off. I generally rhyme when I write. Guess I feel like I'm "supposed to". I'll have to listen more closely to how other song writers handle it. I love the Pixes... so they're non-rhym...

Re: Expect it to be coherent and concise (Whiskey Drinker reviews)
Macaque Attack: Sounds very familiar on the intro. It's a little late 90's early 00's, which isn't a musical period I'm crazy about. But the sounds are very good and convincing. I'm loving all the guitar sounds. And the drums sound great. Although the kick could maybe sit a bit better in the mix. Vo...

@GravityJohnson: "The Mark Makers" is a one off band name made for this fight... well, who knows, maybe we'll do it again. But it's a play on Makers Mark Normally I work solo as "Zack Facco"

Re: Expect it to be coherent and concise (Whiskey Drinker reviews)
@chumpy: Huh, how about that. The fuzz sounds pretty convincing. I actually was thinking it *was* a Fuzz through a Marshall Amp. And the drums sounded pretty lively to me. It's kinda funny that I thought Ken was a software drummer and that your software drums were a real drummer. Just goes to show I...

Re: Expect it to be coherent and concise (Whiskey Drinker reviews)
Ice Weasels: I like the chord progressions and vocal melodies. Vocals aren't bad, a little strained sounding, but not unpleasant. Good guitar sounds (I especially like the Velvet Underground tone that sneaks in here and there). Whatever the reeded instrument is (melodica? harmonica?)... nice touch. ...

Hillbilly: "The name of this song is called, I don't want the motherfuckin' chorus, whatever the arrangements are, we gonna go through, fuck all the laws!" -Dr. Dooom. Anyway, yeah, it's a great start. Reminds me of the good side of country (Townes Van, Mr. Cash, et al) but with your own u...

Re: Expect it to be coherent and concise (Whiskey Drinker reviews)
@chumpy: You're really not missing much with the lyrics. Haha. I honestly don't know exactly what they are, it was my friend singing. He asked me to name whiskeys beforehand and wrote them down so I think he's mostly just saying names of whiskeys. And then yelling.

Re: Handing someone an album in 2016
I'd love a USB stick with tunes on it. Or a download code. I'd even buy a cassette with a download code, cause I'm a little bit of a hipster but don't have space for vinyl in my life... I probably wouldn't pay for a CD but if someone handed it too me and I was interested enough in the music, I'd rip...

On open mics. I remember there being a handful of good ones when I was around. I imagine Connor Byrne still happens at least. And Hopvine. Check out OpenMikes.org.
