Re: No Room for Your Reviews (No Vacancy Reviews)

toby roktot — Live? Quel intéressant. Vocals have notes of Randy Newman. Harmonica points. The Worldly Self Assurance — Good, lovable 90's vibe. The solo guitar is a bit Sonic-the-Hedgehog-esque. Frisbee's vocals always melt my heart. Paco Del Stinko — Sort of a more rock Oingo Boingo thing going h...

Re: Never Was A Cloudy Day (September Reviews)

Kenka : The arrangement reminds me a bit of Tarkio, which is good. The vocals may have too much reverb on them. They can get hard to understand. Good harmonies, though. inflatable vegetables : Good and lo-fi, like early They Might Be Giants, but more gospel-ish. The repeated lyrics bring it all tog...

Re: September (pre-fight)

I've decided to bust out the old accordion this go 'round, which means my song is rife with mistakes. Also no software instruments this time, so it's not a very polished recording. But that's okay. I would be very surprised if any of the other entries sound anything like mine, which I suppose is my ...

Re: hey listen to my new song (thread)

So I've been tooling around lately, and I decided to put what I made out there as an EP (or whatever you call a release that's shorter than an EP, but longer than a single.) It includes the revised version of the song I posted last time. It's bleeps and bloops themed, since I've been experimenting w...

Re: hey listen to my new song (thread)

Here's something I've been tooling around with, and I've become deaf to its quality. Maybe you guys can tell me what I should tweak and what works well (other than trimming the silence off the end. I know about that).

Re: I might actually review this one. (The Lurker Reviews)

The Magnetic Letters — I was unconvinced until I heard the vibraslap. You probably wrote this while wearing a white suit with no shirt, right? The vocals could be a bit clearer, but it's a fun song. The Fonzees — I enjoy this. It reminds me of a late-90s-early-2000s Alternative Pandora station I us...

Re: You'll receive your reviews on Monday...

Toby Roktot : The breathy vocal doesn't do it for me. Generally not my bag, but maybe if you sang it louder. I like the percussion. Nick Soma : That piano at the beginning. Meatloafy. I dig the synth part that comes in a bit later. I would love to hear some doubling and reverb on the vocals. Not a ...

Re: FAWM 2014

I did it! Yaaaay! Congratulations, me! I churned out a concept album about Gilligan's Island. I was really surprised that I even got close, but lo and behold, 14 songs. Furthermore, some of the stuff is kind of good. Great thing, this FAWM.

My gift is indeed for Mr. Lampson.
And that chorus on Guitar? So nice. I love Ms. Ranger Den's backing vocals and the wibbly thing that might be a synth.

Re: Art Bomb

This is the day that I was born The day I died The day I took this fleshy form The day I cried These are my mother's tears, these are my father's trembling arms These are the shaky words, his promise that we won't be harmed But then the bombardiers took aim and let it down And we've all cursed it si...

Re: An explosive pre-fight thread

In as in can be. Optional challenge accepted.

I had some fun with this. I wrote my song as guy and guitar, but it ended up going in kind of a different direction. It's kind of rough, but it's my first time doing something like this. Not an excuse, just two conjoined statements.

Re: Glennny Wuz Robbed! (Red Thief reviews)

Now I'll review these ones. EggNogAdam - I like the guitar. The ending is very abrupt. Kind of jarring, kind of refreshing. Merle Fyshwick - Cambodia. I like the cemetery part, how the music gets a little bit spooky. I enjoy your take on what a red thief is. Rossby Wave - Too quiet. Bulk up those vo...
