Re: NPCA

I can do some critical reading for you, too, if you'd like. As for assigning songs to people, well, I think you probably have an idea of what sort of song you'd get out of the various people who've volunteered to help, and you could probably pick and choose with an eye towards giving people lyrics t...

Re: August 21st, 2008 has been Roned.

Well, you know, it still sounds heroic, if you ignore the fact that performing despite being in pain is what pretty much every non-baseball-playing athlete is expected to do on a daily basis. I am disappointed, though, because Rone is generally the first guy I turn to when I need an undistorted view...

Re: Songfight Crossword

Hannibal Lecter is a fictional serial killer, whereas the guy you had in mind was a real person; perhaps that is a distinction you could make in the clue. Nationality would also be a giveaway!

I guess you can if you want, but I thought the idea was to do something that isn't already part of your normal routine.

Yes! I wasn't too impressed but it is better than reality television. Actually I was surprised to discover that there are aspects of Canadian culture that the documentary film Strange Brew failed to adequately capture.

Yes, and I bet Isaac Hayes is pissed about how quickly you made his thread into no longer his thread.

Re: Bryan Farrish Radio Promotions

The same CD, twice, addressed to the current Station Manager and the Music Director before me (and I've been on the job for 15 months). That's actually pretty common-- I mean, it got where it was supposed to, right? I used to get a lot of duplicates, too; they mostly end up given away to DJs, or as...

Re: Favorite sports moments ever

The best part of that Saints play is the reaction from the commentators. "Nooooooooooooooooooooo" ranks up there with Nancy Kerrigan tearfully asking us "Why?"

If you like that sort of thing, which I'm sure you all do!

Some of these look pretty neat, and it looks like the only place this was mentioned here before was in the "Mac plugins" thread: http://destroyfx.smartelectronix.com/ They are! Not particularly subtle, though. I've used Geometer for all sorts of things, but it is hell on processing power.

Re: Favorite sports moments ever

I've posted this before, but my favorite moment was the USA winning the hockey gold. That is probably the high point in US sporting achievement! Most of mine involve Adam Vinatieri field goals, or the Red Sox beating the Yankees in ridiculously unlikely circumstances. I can't help it, it's where I ...

Re: Saving up for an electric guitar

Were I you, what I would do is go to my local music store and try out various guitars in the $300-$700 range and see what feels comfortable to you, and then go buy the imitation version from Rondo of whatever you like best. They sell some very nice guitars for the money, and you'll do a lot better t...

Re: Saving up for an electric guitar

If you aren't playing live, you probably ought to skip the amp altogether. Ken has already named some of the best low-budget electrics; spend about $250 on one of those and put the rest towards an amp simulator like a J-station. Play through your computer speakers and you won't have to change anythi...

Why not? All press is good press, especially if you're a music promoter-- you're expected to be sleazy. It's part of the job description.

Twelve Angry Men is a classic in the gay porn scene. I'd be surprised if BLT didn't have the dvd already.

Re: Bryan Farrish Radio Promotions

Based on my experience in public radio (similar to Marcus but earlier in history) I'd say that most of the folks here are not at the stage where Mr. Farrish's services would be a good investment. Most won't ever be. I may have dreaded all the phone calls from perky young women who wanted to know how...

Re: What pies do you like?

Cheesecake has two extra bonuses: it's solid enough that you can just hand out slices on a napkin or paper plate and people can eat with their hands, and you can make cheesecake puns at the gals in tight pants.
