Re: Youtube Video Problems
Okay, I've been working with video for over a decade, and nothing like your acceleration problem has happened to me, and I don't recall reading about it happening to anyone else. That said, here's how I would investigate. The problem could be in the webcam (unlikely), the codecs (possibly), the reco...

Re: Youtube Video Problems
How utterly bizarre. Just to be clear: The accelerating effect is the result of recoding the Raw/WAV original into Non-raw/MP3? I mean it's not there in the uncompressed recording? I once had speed problems from a bad mp3 codec, but nothing nearly as bad as this. You're not using weird settings? You...

Having listened to MC Who Izzy's entry for "Circle Me", I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you here Kapitano. Just for that, I'm going to offer the MC a collaboration. MC Who Izzy, would you like a collaboration on this fight? You do the vocals, send them to me and I put some...

Bugger. Looks like I messed up the filenames. That's what you get for working through the night - a result that only makes sense when you're half asleep.
I'll take this an an opportunity to do it again, bigger and better. After a decent sleep.

Re: My Heart Beats for This (Prefight)
It's Office-ally okay. Yathotofs: Bride of Cthulu. Improved with just my voice and loop pedal. Do you mean Improved or Improvised? Either way, sounds good. I'm wondering if I should do an honest-to-goodness, down-to-earth, no-messing-about song for this one. Probably depends on whether I can sing th...

Online Music Resources site . :-D A useful little site which I'd managed to miss - thanks for making it, and including me. Just a thought: I've got the Kjaerhus 'Classic' free plugin set - EQ, comp, reverb etc. I didn't make them, but for years before Kjaerhus went bankrupt they were among the go-t...

Re: Please circle the entries you like (Circle Me reviews)
So Kap, do you feel like maybe writing up something real quick justifying this song against the title? That's the main thing holding me back from throwing you a vote at this point. I wondered what kind of song structure could be 'circular' - aside from the obvious ones like a round, or repeating a ...

There's an amazing amount of software which won't let you do basic configuring - and a lot of it's expensive.
I recommend VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org/) if you're using Windows. It's free, flexible, and outperforms most of the payware.

Hand Drums Sample Pack - Download
I've come up with a sample pack you might find useful. It's 135 physically modelled hand-drums, in mono 44.1kHz WAV. You can download it here: http://sites.google.com/site/kapdemos/Home/Kapitano_HandDrums_1.0.rar The are five drum types - or rather, drum pitches: * Doumbek: 55Hz (A0) * Conga: 110Hz ...

Re: Youtube Video Problems
What audio and video formats are you recording in? If you're saving one or both to a highly compressed format in real time, that can lead to glitches and desync. I always record audio as WAV and video in some lossless or near-lossless format that gives great big files with high quality - Huffyuv is ...

Re: Propellerhead's new audio interface, "Balance"
They're easy to lose. They're easy to break. They're unreliable. Often they just stop working altogether. To replace them you have to pay the software company - which you can't do if they no longer exist. And then wait for it to arrive. They're inconvenient to use, taking up a port which you may not...

Re: Please circle the entries you like (Circle Me reviews)
Yes, the tamborine was over to the right. In the 2-3 min range, the kick seems to be slightly right, the snare slightly left, and the crash cymbals more left. Seeing as the snare and cymbals are higher in pitch with more noise, their panning is more noticible. I usually put the drums dead center, bu...

Re: Please circle the entries you like (Circle Me reviews)
Billy and the Psychotics : A good vocalist for rock - lots of growly frytone, but penetrating. Even so, at various points, especially in the first minute, she got submerged by the other instruments. Carve out an EQ space for her, and she'll come through. The multitracked backing vocals around 2:30 ...

Re: Better late than never (ruthless lately reviews)
Congratulations to the Yardley Scene - though I'd have been surprised if they didn't win. Also no surprises that BLT and Berkeley got good votage. All good entries. I think the votes for Illscreen and Canonical show appreciation for where they were aiming, even though by their own admission they did...

Sounds like a lot of us aren't happy with what we made this week - even when we submitted it.
Just remember this isn't Finished Product Fight, more sort of Rough Demo Fight.

Circle Me
Possibly the most useless lyric listing in the world, because there's no words as such. I programmed my laptop to concatenate phonemes according to some simple rules, and this is the result. Why write meaningful lyrics if you've got nothing to say? The consonant set and stress system is based loosel...

Re: Is that the same as a round? (prefight)
I'm in. Somewhat reluctantly because something went a bit wrong with the voice recording - and there was no time to re-record. So I'm calling this one a 'proof of concept'.
Oh, and it was inspired by "Give Peace a Chance".
Oh, and it's in a fake language.

but they're also often better than the song itself. Agreed! Please note that my comments were not meant as a 'dis'. :) No worries, I didn't take it that way. Whatever happened to the optional challenges for fights? I thought they were better spurs to creativity than the titles. So I think we should...

Re: Better late than never (ruthless lately reviews)
Kapitano - Something out of Blade Runner, I think. I'm nt as impatient during intros as others here, although I've succumbed to submiting shorter ones in response to reviews. Anyway, I like the atmospheric robot groove. It doesn't make me want to dance, but that takes a LOT to do that. Good music t...

when the main beat came in... i swear i started singing fine young cannibals "she drives me crazy". that drum hit is the exact same one used in that song. Only if they used a time machine to steal my laptop. Some people make all their own furniture - I make all my own drum samples. Actual...

Re: Better late than never (ruthless lately reviews)
And now, part 2 of Kapitano's reviews: King Arthur : A jaunty song about depression, insanity, and parental stupidity. No production issues so I don't have much to say. Except: how many cigarettes did you have to smoke to get a voice like that? Are you the offspring of Mercades Mcambridge and the co...
