Here is a (rather unfunny) joke:

One night, a man passes a blonde looking for something underneath a streetlight. He says "What are you looking for?" She says "I lost my glasses." He says "Well, do you want some help?" "Sure," she says.

They both look for half an hour before he says "Where around here did you lose them?" She says, "Oh, I dropped them in the bushes behind my house." "Why are we looking here," he says. "Well, I can't see a thing, but the light's so much better over here."

Here is a (rather serious) set of statements:

If you want to find a bunch of people to start a website with you, the SF messageboards would be the wrong place to look. You've insulted people who are fine with the way that this website works. You've been branded a troll. Why would songfighters here give money to someone that they think is a troll so that he can start a songwriting competition website, if the songfighters don't have a problem with the way that the current website works and it's free?

They wouldn't. It doesn't make any sense to look here for people to start your website with.

Here's another joke. A man's driving down the motorway, listening to the radio. A traffic report comes on, warning drivers of a man who is driving in the wrong direction. "One driver?" he says to himself, incredulously, as he dodges the hordes of oncoming traffic, "They're ALL driving in the wrong direction!"

I really don't want to do that. I want the members to serve.

But there are no members yet.
Why are people posting jokes? You can't beat that one right there. Let me try to refine it, though I suspect OtM won't approve. I think it can be more pithy:

Q: What do you call it when a dictator can't find anyone to rule?
A: Democracy at work!

Or maybe this one:

Q: Why wasn't the only member of the club an offical?
A: No one seconded his nomination!

But this one seems good, too:

Q: Why did the revolutionary cheat and declare himself a de facto leader, bypassing the very democratic system that was ostensibly his entire raison d'etre?
A: Because he couldn't get a quorum to vote on whether he was allowed to leave his mom's basement to go buy some more porn.

Okay, that last one wasn't very pithy. I'll keep working on it. This is a gold mine!

But isn't 'democracy' just a white boys club?

You really haven't thought this through very well, have you.
