The Spider capo allows for, among other neat tricks ... playing behind the capo! Here's a video of a guy playing with two of the things on his acoustic, at the 3rd and 7th frets, and he's fretting behind and in between them and also turning the capo-ing on and off for certain strings on the fly while he's playing. Whoa!

In anticipation of this year's refund, I'm eyeing this http://www.cascademicrophones.com/casca ... mlein.html like a hungry, hungry animal. Ideally to track the band with the Blumlein configuration (or a middle-side one). Just one satisfactory take and done, to speed up our DIY "studio" work (instead of single tracking and obsessively tweaking of each instrument on each song... ugh). And also to have some good mikes at hand.

Ooo. I like both of those items, gents. However, I am selling off two (!) guitars a week on 'the Bay' in gear de-acquisition mode. Those guitas are most like;y very tasty though, Lunk!

Damn, Sam, they's pretty! My next axe is a duplicate of the Blueshawk via c'list most likely, so's the backup guitar onstage will be the same (we're rowdy, and I tend to break heavy strings, heh).

But wow, those Gibsons... tasty.

Got any links to your guitars on Ebay Paco? I know you've got some good ones, I'd be curious to see what you're selling.

Here are the two that I just listed this morning:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/190636411383?ss ... 1555.l2649

I'll hate to see them go, but man, too much stuff. I already sold the guitar that Glen likes when he's here. He'll have to suck it up next time and play something he's not used to. Ha! I'll force him to play my Strat. I think you know how that'd go...

I've always thought that upside down setup was pretty cool. Looks odd, but makes sense for a lead guitar player that loves the high licks. My bud had a metal flake red one I used to play and those things were built to rock hard! They make a strat feel like a toy.

Paco, do you still have that Les Paul with all the goofy shit on it? It had it's eye on me and vise versa. :)

I just ordered one of these, for much less than the MSRP:

The whole reface line looks pretty neat. I hope it's as good as it seems from the videos. Is nobody buying any gear anymore these days or had this thread been lost in the mists of time...?

That's a nice little rig there, Lunk. I had a cheap Yamaha keyboard in my 4-track years, loved the reed voice. That should be a lot of fun. I still buy stuff, but try not to. I upgraded my drum kit a month or two ago, although my playing remains the same. Went though a stompbox 'thing' last year. I am a hardware guy for the most part. Enjoy the keys, they certainly don't appear to be overkill.

I'm going to Florida at the end of the month but the local store I like to hang about had a trade in of a 1982 Yairi DY 46 that I fell in love with. Plays like butter. Sounds gorgeous. The only drawback is you can't really beat on it. You have to play controlled which is not one of my strong suits. But man she's a beaut. Assuming we don't have any unforeseen repairs etc., on the trip (we're driving all the way from Missouri) then I'll have her the first week of July.

Following up, this Reface sounds fantastic and I love it, I've used it on a bunch of recordings.

Hi All, like many of you, I've been stuck at home and finding more time to work on music while sheltering in place. I've now caught a pretty bad case of GAS! Here's what I've been thinking about:

New Interfaces:
Audient D14 - been into this for a while. I like that it is fairly compact with 2in/2out, but can accept 8 additional inputs via ADAT lightpipe.
SSL 2+ - love the feature set on this, and imagine it sounds amazing. Also the price is attractive.
MOTU M2 - love that it is cheap and probably very high quality. I've already invested pretty heavily in MOTU gear, and this would be my 5th interface from them. Currently using a MOTU 828X in the BSS space.
UA Arrow - is it time to get back into the UA ecosystem? This would be the least expensive way back in. Thunderbolt 3 - Two in, two out, plus processing power to use awesome plug ins. Also, I hear their new DAW LUNA is cool.
UA Twin - spend a bit more for more features?
Audient Sono - just found out about this one, tube guitar input with amp simulator, two mic preamps, and ADAT lightpipe input? Very cool set of features, especially since I haven't been using amps to record electric guitars lately. Just noticed you can send the first preamp to the tube.

Studio Monitors:
Genelec 8010A - I've been looking at these since I sold my last pair of studio monitors. Compact with excellent sound. I decided just to buy a pair of Mackie CR3s for a fraction of the price a few months ago, and they are fine for occasional use, while checking final mixes in nice headphones. I might be ready to upgrade.
Auratone C5A - $99 each for an emulation of a classy crappy speaker for mixing? Pair these with the Genelecs for a secondary reference.

Amps:
Blackstar HT-1RH MkII - 1 watt tube amp with simulated spring reverb and USB out? Could be cool both for recording at low volumes and direct. I have a 1x12 cabinet and collecting low wattage heads is an easy way to have a lot of options for recording.

Misc:
GIK 242 Acoustic Panels - what's the point of having nice gear if my room sounds shitty? I think I can fit 6 on my walls unobtrusively. Might not fix everything, but it would likely help.
Ken's Super Duper Band 'n Stuff - Berkeley Social Scene - Tiny Robots - Seamus Collective - Semolina Pilchards - Cutie Pies - Explino! - Bravo Bros. - 2 from 14 - and more!

i would just like to remind everyone that Ken eats kittens - blue lang

I needed to buy a new violin bow and new strings (which I had birthday gift vouchers for), but also caved and bought a chromatic harmonica with my own cash money. I spent most of my teenage years in my bedroom with a harmonica and a harmonica book after one time when I saw a boy I had a crush on play harmonica at a gig one night. It's good to be back.

As far as getting anything bigger goes, we can't buy anything else until we own our own house. This one is too small to fit anything more in.

I am lusting after the Sequential Pro 3. Three oscillator mono/paraphonic synth with a super cool routing matrix and arpeggiator.

Oooh, yeah, that looks amazing. For $500 extra you can get one with a tilt-up control board and walnut trim too!

I feel like I've been having way more G.A.S. since shelter-in-place. I've ordered more stuff than usual in general, though only a little music gear related. I got the Vox MV50 AC + 8" cabinet combo deal yesterday, and I've bought some plugins. I've been dreaming of getting a new guitar. Right now at home I only have my Telecaster, one with two single coils, and it buzzes a lot, so I'm looking at guitars with humbuckers. This SG is beautiful, and, I don't have an SG yet, and, it's even up my Fender to Gibson ratio. But it's not cheap.

I ordered the Vox MV50 + cab deal after Lunkhead posted about it and I'm really looking forward to it arriving on Friday! It'll be nice to spend some time with my electric guitar again. I've mainly been playing acoustic because I've been on a Simon and Garfunkel kick lately (and my voice is in exactly the wrong range for their songs so I have to capo really high, around 7. "Yeah, that's the problem with Paul Simon's deep, manly voice" said my husband).

My current shopping list is pretty short, because I have more gear than free time at the moment.

I want a nicer stereo, but I always feel kind of intimidated by the options. I should probably ask my stepdad for advice--he's a huge high-end audiophile. While I, on the other hand, tend to stream stuff through a single shitty Bluetooth speaker sitting on my desk. I'm not sure if he is actually even aware of any options below the "eye-wateringly expensive" price range, but I guess it would be worth asking. And if anyone has recommendations for a simple little bookshelf speaker type setup, let me know.

I also want a guiro and a vibraslap.

@ken What features are you looking for in your interface? What are you using now and where does it fall down?

@crumpart Looking forward to hearing that chromatic harmonica on some new songs!

@lunkhead @irwin those both look niiiice!

So owl, we meet again! Ha! Crap... I too (three) ordered the Vox MV50 + cab deal... I'm excited about it too... Vox & Laney are my favorite sounding amps... and it'll be nice to have a "real" "tube" Vox amp (that fits in my backpack).

Also to Lunkhead & irwin: I have an SG and I don't really like it... :\ but I don't really like Teles either, so you may enjoy the SG more than I do... other than the terrible neck dive mine suffers from (partly due to heavy neck/partly due to terrible strap button placement) even with "weights" installed in the control cavity to try and balance it out, it still wants to lean forward away from my body and is terribly hard to play standing up... I highly recommend you don't order one online, sight unseen... you really need to hold it and play it for yourself... preferably standing so you know if it has issues... I've thought about moving the strap button ala Tony Iommi to the horn... but that gives me nightmares even thinking about trying to drill into a pointy bit at an angle... gah!
