Dailytitle
Here, something to do during the SongFight! Gap...
Introducing DailyTitle. On Song Fight, songwriters have a ten-day deadline. What if you want an even bigger challenge; try to write a song in a day? Well, that's why we are establishing DailyTitle; one title a day, seven titles a week. If no one submits a song for a title, then the title will go away from the archive list, and maybe it will come around again. Even titles that have already done by many will come around again, but with a clear sign that this was a title before. The site is just beginning to be built, but we are working on it. So, for a faster-paced Song Fight without the voting and reviewing, here's DailyTitle, just to see if you songwriters can write a song in a day and have it showcased.

I give it a week before their MediaWiki instance is hacked and the whole thing is flooded with spam.

Wow, such an amazingly professional site to launch with. And great idea to use a comcast.net email address; that limits the number of entries and the file size pretty considerably.

Re: Dailytitle
Don't take the snarky comments the wrong way. I wish you the best and hope you get something good going and that it takes off, honestly. I'm sure you picked an option for a site that did what you needed. My snarky comment was just based on past attempts to make a Song Fight! wiki using Media Wiki and how they mostly failed due to the wikis being taken over by spambots. Make sure you keep your wiki locked down!

Re: Dailytitle
I'm assuming that editthis.info is a hosted MediaWiki service that ostensibly takes care of spam/hacking/etc. for you.

Re: Dailytitle
It's up to the site owner to fight spam, and I as the site owner have some mighty powerful locks that I enabled before you guys even knew about the site. Anyway, it's going well; one song for the first title is pretty impressive; I know Song Fight had five for its first ever fight (Golfpunk Drives a Cadillac), but still, the fact that I got any on the first try makes me feel great. Two on the second title. Now the third one is happening; let's see!
Re: Dailytitle
Nick Soma: Malissa's Bracelet. Liked the overall song, but the other vox parts confused the chorus. Sounds like you were getting silly at the end.
Nick Soma: Using Google. Didn't like so much. But it's a song
Are you still using Audacity as your recording software? If so, do you play each part as a separate overdub, or do you use some sort of VST instruments?

Re: Dailytitle
Doesn't Tyler have a place to put reviews elsewhere?

Re: Dailytitle
Sorry; I was supposed to tell people that they could email reviews to me. I guess I just wasn't expecting people to be sending in reviews.

Re: Dailytitle
I didn't intend for this challenge to have reviews. I don't think Album-A-Day from CrapArt had reviews, so this won't either. Just a challenge to see if people can take a title to the recording grounds in 24 hours, and then showcase them by uploading them to a file sharing site and linking to them. No intent on reviews.

Re: Dailytitle
If you want to leave a review, you can email me and it will be put in a special section of the site. I can set it up that way.
Re: Dailytitle
Eh, no worries. Until non Songfight people start posting, i can always send a PM. Or something else.

I am still using Audacity, yes. I usually play each part separately, but in this case it's all VSTs and samples put together in the old school tracker software, Jeskola Buzz. Thanks for your reviews - as for the songs sounding silly or ugly, that's probably because they were intended to sound that wayiVeg wrote:Nick Soma: Malissa's Bracelet. Re: Dailytitle
Jeskola Buzz. Wow. I haven't used it in over ten years. You make it sound a lot better than I ever did!

Re: Dailytitle
What makes you think non-SF people would post to a sidefight? Every Nur Ein entry appears to be from a songfighter, right? But we will encourage them if non-SF people find out, but other than that, it's a sidefight right here in the Song Fight community.
Re: Dailytitle
I hadn't done a SongFight in over ten years when I did Nur Ein VIII, so that argument doesn't apply.
Dailytitle wasn't listed as a side fight. It isn't under the SongFight extended site.
But so far I'm having fun, so keep the titles coming.

Re: Dailytitle
The Sidefight Archive link on the Song Fight home page hasn't been updated since 2006, so they're not going to list any new sidefights.

Re: Dailytitle
The reason I haven't posted any titles is because nobody was participating!
