Upcoming Tapegerm Event - 5 June (Saturday)

Post by HeuristicsInc »

Last time I posted about a Tapegerm event we gained the attention of at least two excellent songfighters, so here goes again!
This event started out as a "Tapegerm Album-A-Day" but has morphed a bit because we removed the restriction that different songs can't be worked on at the same time. So, it's "make loops/sounds then make songs from them, all in 24 hours time" event!

Check out this lovely artwork by SF's own Kamakura:

Hope to see some of you there! You can even combine this project with this week's Songfight titles (if you don't work on lyrics or sounds until Sat evening, that is) for a duplicatory songy experience!

We've got another Tapegerm event scheduled for a week from Saturday - we're calling this one "A Midsummer Night's Germination" and it will feature live sets streaming over the internet, loops and sounds made by whoever wants to upload them, and chat in the tapegerm irc. Schedule to be determined - drop by http://www.tapegerm.com's forum for more information & let us know if you're interested.

This might work out just peachy for me as my other half is away that weekend so I can record wildly and stay up all night without disturbing him, but I followed the link and can't find where I am meant to be logging in / on / any mention of this event. Um, help?

Awesome, and heh, sorry, I guess I was in a hurry when I posted that. Here'sa thread on the Tapegerm board about the event, we're just getting started so there's no official writeup for this event yet.
Here's the writeup from last time we had an event like this.
Just drop in and express some interest!

Just a reminder that the Tapegerm event is happening now!
Songfight regulars Johnny Cashpoint (as Giuseppe Bancomatti), Kamakura, and Heuristics Inc. are all participating along with a large collection of electronic and experimental musicians. Come by for the live event, starting at 5PM Eastern time, with International Garbageman from Sweden.
Check here for the complete schedule, but here are a couple of highlights:
HInc set 1 - 7PM
Prerecorded music intermission - 730PM (incl. Kamakura)
HInc set 2 - 9:30 PM
J$ set - 10PM
(The Bancomatti set was performed live this morning due to schedule constraints and will be rebroadcast in this time slot).
Hope to see you there!

Oh, also, for those of you that love IRC, there is a #tapegerm chat at DALNet that should be hopping during the live event.

If you want to hear my live improv set of abstract electronica from this, it's up on my website - here

A Midsummer Morning's Germination by Giuseppe Bancomatti
30.07 mins
Featuring Shaud, Mental Anguish, CYSTEM & Heuristics Inc
1.Wake-Up Call 7.34
2.Summer Is A'Comin' In 4.05
3.This Savage World 7.36
4.Superman's Seeing-Eye Dog 10.20

Cha.

EDIT:Oh if anyone is wondering how I could play live and sing my own backing vox ... everything here apart from the main vocal is triggered loops using Soundplant.

EDIT II: I guess this counts as an AAD as well. The sort that Blue hates :)

This was big fun!

I mixed/wrote two tracks.

The first using loops by Guiseppe Bancomatti (aka Johnny Cashpoint) and Mental Anguish is called Hole in the wall anguish
The second is called Prodigy and uses loops by Cystem and Mental Anguish.

Check 'em out, and let me know what you think. Or go to http://www.tapegerm.com and have a listen to them and lots of others.

Cheers all
