Anyone interested in doing a SF show in NJ?

Set up live gigs with each other, announce gigs you're playing around the country or whatever, talk about how the show went, post links to recordings, etc.

Anyone interested in doing a SF show in NJ?

Post by Niveous »

After the fun I had during SF:Wayne, I have been fiending to do another SF Show but I'm a poor man so I'm not gonna be flying to the West Coast anytime soon. So I figured why not see if there was any interest in doing a SF NJ show in the future.

We'd be up for it. As long as it fits in with school and such, anyway.

If the timing is good, this would be a good possibility... assuming I learn how to sing or something ;)
Anyway M's got family in NJ - good synergy there.

Sorry but you can't bit that I don't know how to sing bit anymore. Not after you rocked the place with Fight the Sea at SF:Wayne.

While the West Coasters are having a blast with their tour (lucky devils), we should do a Songfight Presents show on the East Coast.

I had suggested this a while back and I did some research. Now I know I can't afford to throw one of these on my own but perhaps with contributions of the people playing than we can pull it off. And I'm willing to do all the legwork. I don't know how many interested parties there would be but if the Wayne show is any sign than there should be enough people to pull together a show.

I would just need to know a few things like a timeframe, what kind of performance space would we need (should I inquire at bars, banquet halls, etc.), what kind of seating (numbers wise), and other info that would be helpful to pull something off.

New Jersey has its benefits and would be easy for me to do the legwork for (since I live there). New York would be even easier. They even have websites like nycmusicspaces that list performance spaces that can be rented. The only drawback to NYC is that it can be a tad bit pricey when it comes to lodging. But it is doable. Another PA show would be cool as well but I couldn't do the legwork. It's far easier for me to get my ass to NYC than it is to get my ass to PA (despite them being nearly equidistant from New Brunswick, go figure.)

It's all doable, I would just need the interest and the information to go on from there.

As I mentioned a while back M's uncle is in New Brunswick (& other family also nearby) & we have been discussing sometime to head there for a weekend. It would perhaps be possible to align these two events together, tho M's parents would likely be around on the weekend too so discussions will have to happen. It may be better not to combine them. In any case, I am interested!

I could absolutely be at a New York City show, and I think it would be a lot of fun.

So we absolutely positively need to do this. I'm jonesing for some SFL, and since I probably won't be in Atlanta, NJ/NY/that general area sounds good to me. Let's make this haaaaappen :D

I'd love to but it seems that I suck at finding venues and putting up capital. Any advice or help in putting this together would be greatly appreciated.

I was just thinking. I've never secured a venue before, which has been the impetus for me in this plan. But I have gotten permits for parks before. Would anyone be interested in doing an outdoor show? We could do it in September. It would be a Songfight Indian Summer outdoor bash with music and picnicking.

As long as the weather was good and there was shade and whatnot... My poor British soul can't deal with sun :P

But yes. Picnics and music sound like a good time. Though I guess it would become a more acoustic thing which could be good or bad. I sorta like rocking out :/

I agree with Bjam. As long as it's drizzly and cold, I'm in.
