Songfight NYC

Post by Niveous »

Hey everyone,

I have long wanted to get a show together in New York for SF and I have finally found a venue, thanks to Luke Henley.

It would probably be in December or January, I have to double check their calendar. But I have to move fast to get a good date. So who would be down for a New York gig?

I'm definitely interested in such a thing, as long as it doesn't conflict with holidays. Still, gotta be subject to the specific date scheduling.

Yea, cool. But Dec/Jan is tough for lots of folks, I'd think, Kwanza being the huge event that it is. Still, I'm in :) And it wouldn't compete with SF VT Memorial Day.

Possibly in. Completely depends on the date. December is super bad for me, but I may be able to make something work. Plus, driving up to NYC in the snow/crappy weather = So not fun.

Well, there after a look at the venue's calendar, there are a pair of sundays open in November (18 or 25). December has more open weekend dates. Seeing as they are close to the holidays, the best would probably be December 15 & 16.

(note- if we pick a date in December or January, we can do shows on both days of the weekend)

January is wide open.

I might be able to do this, if someone can put me up (or wants to kick in on a room or something).

There are many hotels in the area around the venue. (I haven't said what the venue is because I wanna get all the details squared first, but I have been assured by the owner that I can put on a show there. I just have to give him the date and if he has it open, we can play then).

M says January is better. Bjam makes a good point about snow, though.

I will watch this thread with interest.

Every time I say I want to go, I never can, but:

* I have never been to NYC
* I REALLY want to see Avenue Q
* I want to meet some of the Songfighters that would likely be there
* I want to meet the people behind Captain S.

I have many reasons for why Rachael and I would LIKE to be there.

ROCK!

I may be interested in playing this show (especially if Glenn Case comes to town!), but I wouldn't want to influence the selection of the date and not show up. So, I guess I'm just checking in to say I'm a "maybe."

Awww! That's so nice!

If we both DO show up, I would think that an acoustic duo version of your "Run Free" would be mandatory.

ROCK!

I feel exactly the same way, so I'll just quotate this and go back to cooking dinner.

How does Jan 19-20 sound? I figure that might work well since it's MLK day on the 21st.

Jan 19-20 looks good now. We won't have the Monday off, but that's ok. M has even said she will try to come also.

as much as I'd love to visit NYC again... NYC in January sounds a little bit like Hell to the ears of a Florida boy.

Excellent. I'm away the week before, so timing works fine. Come on down, folks, the weather's fine in January! Hey, this is in Fluffy's old neighborhood.
