The Half Racks - All YouTube clips in one place

Post by GlennCase »

Hey again,

Now I've got a home for all of the Half Racks YouTube clips.

http://www.glenncase.com/liveshows/

I just uploaded our first two shows today.

This will be an ongoing project, so it made sense to make one thread instead of littering the boards with new threads for every new show.

I hope you enjoy the ones you watch.

ROCK!

I don't remember if I could see very well with the hat on at that show, but I had been awake for something like 30 hours before taking the stage. I was delirious.

You DO see the # sign on the kick drum! Our first live show was one that was shared with Octothorpe, as well as the Bloody Hams, Adjuster, and Ken's Super Duper Band 'n Stuff (With Justin and I filling in the roles of drums and bass respectively.)

If the other bands would like to have their Jewel Box Theater sets posted on YouTube, that could be arranged, because we did take video footage.

ROCK!

I love the difference between the first concert and the most recent. You guys are way better now. Great music, too. Do you guys have an album?

Look at it this way: At least we have probably improved since then. In fact...

Thanks! Maybe we HAVE progressed since then!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

(Sorry, but that's funny.)

Um... no. Not yet.

We have recorded a debut album at least four times now, and I have scrapped it every time. I have not been happy enough with any of the sessions yet. The good news is that the most recent sessions seem much more promising to my ears.

I am going to try to record some vocals for "365" tonight. We'll see what happens.

ROCK!

Geez, that was the first SF show I went to (though didn't play in, sorta offered myself as a pseudo-roadie). Adding to the magic, Adjuster opened the show, IIRC, with a cover of one of my songs. We later stole his version of it, filed the numbers off, and opened our first live SF show (again, IIRC) with a cover of his cover.

Super cool, Glenn!

Wow. You work pretty hard at this. Now I want to play a show and post it on the internet ... but then I'd have to learn how to sing and play at the same time.

Cool stuff.

It has gotten significantly easier since the bass player/brother-in-law started doing the video editing. It's one less step on my end. All I have to do is just upload them to YouTube and create the links.

As far as singing and playing, as Blue Lang said in a lyric:

"Practicing guarantees only that you put your time in"

While that may be true, I would say that it definitely helps. If it is something that you aim to do, work at it, and there's a good chance you'll be able to do it after a while.

ROCK!

You're officially an internet criminal now! Good job. I don't think its fair to remove a video of you covering a song (especially when there are thousands of videos of guitarists playing along with their favorite artists), but hey ... I guess it's up to them.

I agree with Mr. Roger. If they're going after you, they need to go after a lot of other people.

Somehow, it doesn't surprise me that it's this one. Prince has notoriously denied Weird Al permission to record parodies or incorporate his songs into polkas on several occasions. I'm a big fan of his work, but he's way overprotective and totally weird, to boot.

Ha, when I first saw your post, I thought you were going to say that you uploaded so many videos that you hit your limit, lol.
So wow, no covers allowed huh? But any goof can dub in a bands song for one of those stupid video game sessions.

I decided to remove all of the YouTube clips a while back. Most of the clips didn't have many views, and the ones that did seemed to have more and more inappropriate comments stacking up.

The Half Racks have disbanded, and we will not be playing a farewell show. We have parted on good terms.

Justin Combustion has been wanting to move to Portland for some time now, and he's going to do that now that he has sold his house. We had hoped to play a farewell show or two, but balancing everyday life, school and preparing for the move has proven to be very chaotic without adding practices and shows to his schedule. Something had to give, and in this case it was the band.

Image

'Coffee Now' will not be released as a CD, but free mp3s of the songs will be made available when they are finished. I'll try to make the completion of this album a higher priority in the near future.

On behalf of the band, I would like to thank anyone that ever came to a show to see us play. It was fun to share the stage with these guys.

If you'd like to keep up with any of our future musical escapades, feel free to check out our individual Myspace profiles:

Thanks again, y'all. It's been a good run.

:)

In the words of Charles Barkley: "Turrible, just turrible." Which stinks because I would love to do that.
