VOICE - I've decided take that Friday off of work. So ANYBODY that wants to hang out with us on FRIDAY, let me know. We could all go to Mall of America & gasp at the size of Snoopy's..... collar. We could also use this time to practice for Saturday, or record a spontaneous song for Songfight!
I'll also handle your airport pick ups & drop offs. Plus my spare bedroom is all yours.
I am gonna be out of town until Monday, when I'll start getting into this again.

Consider this my plea for chord charts or any sort of cheat sheets, for the songs we're All-Star-Bandizing.
Also if someone's expecting me to play something other than keyboards on a song (e.g. guitar, harmony vox), please please please let me know in advance so I can desuck my performance and bring the right instruments or learn the lyrics.
In the near future I'll post a link to my two songs' (Jimmy Hat, Tri-State) lyrics, chord progressions, and instrumentals. If you want a special mix to practice (e.g. bass-less, organ-less, etc), just PM me and I'll bounce it.
Regarding anxious drummers, I might bite; still need to practice my "solo" set more, but if time allowed I wouldn't mind some drum assistance; throw a bass in there along with my mediocre piano skills and we'll have a C-class "Ben Folds Five" squad.
Oh, also we'll probably get into MN mid-Friday, or sooner if we happen to get up early. And I am all about going to the mall or jamming it up with yas, so count me in Bolio. Tawny will probably be there too.

I like the mall idea since I've never been there and I want to be a silly tourist. 8)
Also, if you're looking for a poster or any artsy PR stuff to promote the SF event, I'd love to help. Just let me know what text you want on there and if you have certain images in mind. Ooh and deadline, too, would be great. If this is taken care of, nevermind!

Ya, If you are all about getting drunk and acting like a college student, then I 'm not the house. But if your into upscale living and convience to the Mall and the downtowns, my upstairs guest quarters might be.Bolio wrote:No offense, but I see the party ending up somewhere other than Dirk's I'll update the BLOG.
Plat, my drummer would love to sit in with you.

Recordings?
Another newbie question: I'm not sure if anyone's pledged to video/audio-record this event yet. Is the audio recording as simple as plugging a recording device (e.g. laptop, or tape deck, etc) into the soundboard's output? Or something requiring another pair of microphones?
technically that's all it would take, assuming there are mics on the guitar amps and drums that would be running into the PA. or assuming the vocal mics would pick up the drums enough.
ideally it would probably sound better to have additional mics somewhere near the audience though. but it need not be anything super-complicated. what you describe is pretty much all that's essential.

The big question is... who has the equiptment. I don't .j$ wrote:We got reasonable audio-capture of SF:UK from a DV cam - depends what you want it for I guess, souvenir or something more commercial ....

I thought we were just going to wait until the new Yellow title was announced, which presumably would be around Friday or Saturday this week, but I'll go with the flow I guess. I'd hate to write a song for the wrong title.Fried wrote:I ALMOST FORGOT! WE NEED A SONG TITLE. I WAS GOING TO USE THIS WEEK'S YELLO, IT IS THE SAME AS LAST WEEK! HOW ARE WE GOING TO PICK IT?
I kinda wanted to have two weeks for the title. With all the learning of others songs, I thought it would be good for everyone to have more time. For the sake of not pulling a Kerry, I think we should stick with this one.Plat wrote:I thought we were just going to wait until the new Yellow title was announced, which presumably would be around Friday or Saturday this week, but I'll go with the flow I guess. DAMN STRAIGHT
I am gonna write out my lead sheets tonight & post them.
Suggested course of action is taking the Setlist & putting it on and endless loop for like, the rest of the week. Or so.

you should post something here about the show.....
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/cal/
also, you should email ken. he's a PR genius for promoting shows. he might be able to give you some good leads and tips. he's also got a press release that you could probably easily modify.
good luck! the fat lady rocks the bass!

my first priority though is to re-record my "direct for helmet" so it's easier to listen to because i'd hate to subject anybody to that on repeat!
