JDRF Charity Giveaway

Post by HeuristicsInc »

I'm going to do a charity walk this weekend for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Inspired by Mssrs Shirt and Woodward, I've decided to make a similar offer. If any SongFighters donate $10 or more to JDRF for my walk, I'll send you a free copy of one of my current CDs:
Fluffy Dinosaur Attack!
Anemone Remix CD
If you donate $20 or more, I'll send you both. And I'll even send a bonus CD, a copy of the Brainpipe improv CD:
The Goo Sessions
I've got a bunch of these CDs in boxes at home, so feel free to donate! I'll cover the shipping.

Just so you know, there are no words on any of these albums, they're all instrumentals. Here is some text from JDRF about the charity and about the walk:
Greetings!

I'm writing to you to ask for your support in a very special cause.

This Saturday, like last year, Michelle and I will be taking part in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with a half-million other walkers across the country. Our goal: To raise $80 million to help fund research for a cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications.

Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes, is a devastating, often deadly disease that affects millions of people--a large and growing percentage of them children.

Many people think type 1 diabetes can be controlled by insulin. While insulin DOES keep people with type 1 diabetes alive, it is NOT a cure. Aside from the daily challenges of living with type 1 diabetes--and there are many--the severe, often fatal complications caused by type 1 diabetes include retinopathy (an eye disorder which can lead to blindness); neuropathy (nerve damage, which can lead to loss of limbs); nephropathy (kidney disease); and cardiovascular disease (coronary heart disease and hypertension, or high blood pressure).

All of that's the bad news... and yes, it's pretty bad.

The good news, though, is that a cure for type 1 diabetes IS within reach. For the first time, scientists are predicting that we CAN expect to see a cure for type 1 diabetes well within our lifetime!

That's why I'm writing to you. Now more than ever, EACH of us can be a part of bringing about a cure. EACH of us CAN make a real difference.

Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as you're able?

Together, we CAN make the cure a reality.

Thank you,

bill

My brother has juvenile diabetes. It sucks. But it did make him a math whiz. You win for the best charity/CD combo. Other songfighters, giving to animals... I tell ya, they'd eat us given half the chance... grumble grumble... ;)

Thanks c hack. Yeah, I don't actually have anyone in my family with it, but I know a lot of people that do. It's very serious. That reminds me, if you want CDs with your donation, send me a PM with your postal address so I can send them. :)

I'm having JDRF process the payments through their form rather than imposing my own on it. I don't want to add any more complications to the process...
