a question about messageboard notifications

Post by Eric Y. »

i have the option set to notify me in case of replies to a certain thread, which is a feature i have used very rarely in the past. i was away from the computer for a couple of days and came back to find about a dozen notifications (many of which were on the same day). it was my understanding that once one notification was sent, that would be all until i had checked the thread again.

it's not a big deal, but i am just wondering if i was understanding incorrectly, or if this is a problem with the messageboard software?

I always assumed that it was every time there was a new post.

I don't think it's smart enough to send one message then keep track of whether you've visited that thread.

It DID used to be smart enough. And in fact, the notification messages I get say "You can use the following link to view the replies made, no more notifications will be sent until you visit the topic." right there in them. And it used to work. I'm having the same problem, and in fact that's why I visited this forum today, to see if anyone else was having it.
Here's my record label page thingie with stuff about me if you are so interested: https://greenmonkeyrecords.com/jim-of-seattle/
