Pink Ribbon podcast not working

Post by tpr »

I just subscribed to the SF podcast, but it's only downloading one song.

I changed my podcast settings to download all episodes, but it's still only downloading one of the entries (The Fault). What am I doing wrong?

I think when you first set up to receive podcasts, it only downloads one "episode" from any podcasts that existed BEFORE you set up your own receiver. Yes, there should be a way to tell it "go ahead and download all the songs (files)," depending on what receiver you're using... maybe what you did was set the preferences so that it will download everything from future podcasts but haven't found the button yet that says "get all the current songs now" ???

Either that, or fightmasters have already fixed it, but I just fired up juice and multiple songs seem to be arriving...

I don't think that's it. Since making the change, I have un- and re-subscribed, and it's still only downloading the first song. I checked the rss source, and I can't see anything that would prevent me from downloading the whole thing.

Besides which, I've really hammed on the "Update Podcast" button since changing the setting.

Well, it's working for me, using Juice, so I think the problem is at your end. Keep in mind that if you unsubscribe and resubscribe, the podcast on the songfight site is STILL older than your subscription, and will continue to be...

You may need to just download this fight manually and then see what happens when the new fight is posted.

Or tell us what receiver you're using and maybe someone who uses the same program can give you some ideas.

I'm using iTunes 7.0.2. I had to upgrade for my new iPod.

I'm sorry, I just don't understand why that one song isn't enough for anyone.

:)

Yeah, I'm one half of The Fault. How did you guess?

This issue is covered on the podcast page:

http://songfight.org/podcast.html

Known iTunes issue:

These podcasts contain multiple files, one for each entry in the respective fight. Unfortunately, iTunes will only download one file when you first subscribe. However, if you modify your iTunes' Podcasts Preferences so that 'When new episodes are available:' it will 'Download all', then you will get all of the songs on subsequent updates.

I interpreted that to mean that I could force an update post-configuration and retrieve all the songs. Does it actually mean that this fight is F-ed for me, but, starting next week, everything will work as expected?

Actually, as I recall, you can manually download the rest for this week.
