T-Shirts and Baseball Caps and Stickers, OH MY!

Post by Bjam »

I think we should have a decent Songfight store. To do this we'd need some decent designs. And a webpage. And a place to buy the things. And permission from Spud and JB(but that should be okay, I'm pretty sure I'm on their good lists, right?) So I think we should have a brainstorm party.

I figure we need designs more along the lines of the SFL 2005 Boston shirt, where it was more designy than just "Songfight" on a shirt. Maybe taglines or something...

What do you think?

Maybe in light of this case where a domain squatter had to give up thesimpsonsmovie.com Spud and JB could get songfight.com back for free and make some scratch, or at least host a common place for SF related scratch making.

edit: I mean a dot.com is the appropriate place for a commerce site. That was clear wasn't it?

I think we should sell really obscure merchandise that people would not normally sell.

I think yes.

I love my SF!L 2005 shirt and still wear it occasionally, in public even. I like my SF!L 2006 shirt but it's not really the sort of thing I would wear around. I'd love to have other SF! related stuff that was really cool looking that would represent SF!, more along the lines of the shirts on Threadless. I'm not so big on white t-shirts, but colored shirts, with good designs, that would be cool.

In the mid 80s, the band TISM sold merchandise at some of their shows. You could buy TISM string, or TISM's The Milk of Human Kindness, which was just a carton of milk. Then they had a lawnmower stolen from their show.

This suggestion reminds me of that, and as such, I am persuaded to support it.

T-shirt and whatnot would be good, as long as it was done right.

I like tagless shirts with large neck holes. Neck holes? That's funny. I hate shirts that try to strangle me. I won't wear them I tell ya, I just won't!
I'm way too busy to say any more on this matter. But I'll buy one because I support the SF.

I like the idea of SF milk cartons. I think SF boxing gloves would be cool as well.

You may run into some slight difficulties if you choose to produce goods that people are not going to want to buy much of. There are reasons why "obscure merchandise that people would not normally sell" are obscure and not normally sold.

Boxing gloves are funny and appropriate and I like the idea. I also would not take a pair if they were free, because they would take up space that I need for more useful things, like bottles of cheap liquor. Don't let the fact that I am a drunken jackass stop you or anything. Just be aware that you will probably lose money if you try to sell such things, and you may or may not care about that.

I don't wear t-shirts that have words on them.

I would like a t-shirt that looks like this:

except a red shirt with white graphics.

I love my SongFight! Live 2005 shirt and I get compliments on it all the time. I love it even more because you had to be in the right place at the right time to get it. I just hate the idea of a commercial SongFight and a "SongFight store" (as Bjam described it) seems like a step in that direction.

I also liked my Support Our Songfighters magnet before someone stole it off my car.

Commercial Songfight? I'm interested in what you mean by that.

Anyway. I was mostly just talking about a generic design or two(most likely the one already in play, and maybe another less guitar-centric, but still logo-y and not just "Songfight" in letters) but on a nicer quality shirt(and a non-white shirt), and with the possibility of hats/stickers/magnets if you're into that. Certainly not some big product range.

Could someone not just open a Cafe Press store (or similar) with a few nice designs. Nobody will lose any money and you can get the designs on a range of useless crap. That said I will probably not buy any myself.

There is a cafepress site here: http://www.cafepress.com/songfight

I will be glad to add any GOOD designs that come along.

I don't know. On a small level, a flashing graphic that says "Check out the SongFight Store! Click HERE!" On a larger level, banner ads for Musician's Friend.
