Multiple fights?

Post by AJOwens »

Someone somewhere recently suggested bringing back multiple fights. These were before my time, so I have no idea how well they worked, but with 34 entries for the "Crush" fight, I can see a case for it. That's a lot of reviews!

I've been hanging around Songfight since July 2009 (which is not long), and the usual entry count has been in the 18-25 range. Maybe 34 is a statistical outlier -- it's too soon to say. But at the rate people have been joining, it could be a trend.

What's the highest number of entries for a single fight on record?

I don't know the global maximum but Love Me A Little Bit More had 55 submissions (approximately... my count might be off).

34 is a lot. But if you remove all of the ones that involve Lord of Oats and Ken - then there is only about 2 or 3 left.

I think they worked pretty well. You don't get to hear all the participants each week, which is both a drawback and a positive aspect. Personally, I enjoy the option of 2+ titles.

Just so you know, here is a graph of the number of entries per fight since we resumed the single-fight format:

Someone suggested staggered fights - fights A and B both last 2 weeks, but B is always 1 week behind A.

I think it's a good idea, but I'm not sure how much extra work it would be for the fightmasters to administrate.

How about "StaggerFight"? It is similar to Songfight but you have to drink a goon of cheap wine while recording.
