cross-link different names for a contributor

Post by AJOwens »

As Jim of Seattle points out in the Cloud-Cuckoo-Land discussion, if an artist posts under several names, the songs get scattered across several pages. Would it be a lot of work to cross-link the pages?

On the individual artist pages - home - music archive - sort by artist - click on artist

...you can list the names of various projects you're involved in, and it appears that those function as links. For example, see the bottom of the page for:

http://www.songfight.org/artistpage.php?key=abecedarian

I think this still works by sending an image and some text to Spud and he incorporates it manually when he has time. Check with him, there used to be something on the front page on how to do this. Maybe there still is...

I don't see anywhere where this has been compiled into a cross index, maybe that's in the works.

There's also a discussion thread here:

http://songfight.net/forums/viewtopic.p ... iner+Notes

...where a lot of people have posted lists of projects they've been involved in... again, I don't know that anybody has turned it into a searchable database sort of thing, but at least if you want to know all the bands a particular songfighter has been in, that might be a place to start...

There are others who know more about this than I do, but they haven't posted here yet :-)

The feature does already exist (see my artist page, for instance), you just need to e-mail fightmaster with the information. He's been busy lately, so be patient. :)
