Saw it this weekend. Lots of fun. Some bits weren't up to snuff but in general a good time. My dad really got a kick out of it. Nice to have Indy back, and Marian.

There's a mediocre-but-still-expensive little theater by my place that can never manage to sell out a screening. Opening night I walked into this about 5 minutes before it started and found a clump of perfect seats together. Hooray for crappy theaters! Anyway, I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure it was very good. I mean, it DID have that Tarzan scene. Lots of enjoyable references to the first movie (which I watched tonight). Still, it was more Temple than Raiders. LaBeouf pissed me off surprisingly little. I'm glad it was set in the 50s; I went in thinking it was set in the 60s. Also, I'm glad they're fighting commies, and not neo-nazis. Or beat writers.
Fucking anamorphic cam rips, what the shit. Who the hell would willingly force themselves to watch this garbage?

My theatre experience was vastly different. I went on Sunday (like 3rd day after opening night) and decided on the matinee, which was a good idea. Barely got a seat for me and my kid (everyone was all "OH WE'RE SAVING THESE SEATS"... yeah, you know what? FUCK YOU. TELL YOUR FUCKING FRIENDS/FAMILY/WHATEVER TO GET HERE EARLIER THEN, LIKE I DID. ASSHOLE) and went back out to get some sodas... not gonna happen. The concession line was ridiculous, I waited in line for 10 minutes, then noticed there's a pop machine.. D'OH. The pops were... wait for it... $3.75 each. For a regular sized bottle of coke. And they weren't even very cold. Thankfully, the movie made up for my bad theatre experience, and because I was in line for 10 minutes, I missed the previews/commercials. (Yes, they show commercials at the movie theatre now. Ask me how much I like that.)

Agreed, but I was kind of amazed it was on google video.

You mean it was an attempt to explain that he's trying to restrain himself from being uncivil when really he'd much rather ask 'why the fuck do you think anybody gives a shit about that? Don't you have anything better to do than post whatever random inanity comes to your mind regardless of whether it's likely to be of interest to anyone else'? 'Cos, to be honest, that seems unlikely from what he wrote.

You know, I just remembered the computer generated gophers in this movie... why on earth can't Spielberg afford real gophers? Or at least some post-1999-quality CGI.

- The gophers were cute at first. Then they should've been out.
- I agree with whomever said the kid should have had more character.
- The forest battle scene was like 30 minutes too long. Even if it was only 3 minutes.
- Aren't sword fights a little old? Even though this is set in the 50s. The kid's a school drop out and is otherwise a loser but somehow he became a competitive sword fighter? Basically, it seems like they were recreating the redwoods Skido scene in StarWars.
- Come to think of it, this whole movie is so similar to National Treasure: Book of Secrets in soooo many ways that it makes one think they're both licensed from the same damn story.
- Harrison Ford looked good, though. Gotta say.

The bit you quoted I wrote for the reason I explained in my reply to dre. The rest I asked because a) I was curious about what the answer was, and b) I hoped that answering the question would cause Reïst to (re)consider whether there was any point to that kind of post. Obviously I was hoping that, like me, he'd come to conclude that a) it doesn't really contribute much to the discussion and b) if everyone posted to announce what films they plan to see/what gigs the plan to go to/what they plan to have for lunch/whatever, then there'd be an awful lot of garbage to wade through on the messageboard.

Of course, things didn't go quite the way I'd hoped. This often happens.

Was there any particular reason why you wanted to know?

It's just a matter of posting in the wrong thread, folks. Take it to Roll Call. This kind of thing is tolerated, even encouraged, over there.

Dude, I have been waiting for "del" forever. Thankyou! I will most likely use it in every post.

Well, except this one. Wait, scratch that, I'll even use it in this one!

What's this thread about again? Town names that are fun to say? My favorite is Murfreesboro.

if spielbergo could make all three indiana jones movies (which are supposed to emulate the old serial movies) without cgi, i would think that it would be a point of pride not to put any in the new movie.
it took a few months for everyone to agree that the phantom menace was shit. the clock is ticking on indy 4. shia lepoof or jar-jar? which would you rather watch? harder choice than you'd think, right?
