Cop Out

Post by Billy's Little Trip »

I wouldn't say this movie is terrible, because I've seen terrible. But it isn't very good if your expectations are to see a good Kevin Smith movie. Do not expect Smith's verbal volleyball on this one. Great lines, but no fireworks. Very typical cop partners movie plot with the K.Smith magic drenching it.

I make it a point to see every movie directed and or written by Kevin Smith. I've been putting this one off for a while only because I could tell from the trailers that KS was just doing a larger than his usual budget movie to get a fat movie check.

So, I'll review it for what it is in 5 comments:
1. Bruce Willis and Tracey Morgan worked great together.
2. Smith wants job security with a Willis multi sequel movie
3. The only reason this movie was worth watching was because of Smith's predictable comedy style that I never seem to get tired of.
4. Scott William Alexander as "Dave" was great!!! I'm looking forward to more of his character. The obvious invention of Smith.
5. The continuous intensional use of lines from famous movies was funny. Typical Smith humor. Gets the viewer involved. My boys and I were trying to be first to guess where the movie quotes were from and when it was from a famous Willis movie, we laughed pretty good even though it was SO predictable and lame. Interactive movies are FUN! :)

By the way.

Interesting. I didn't realize this was directed by Kevin Smith. I need to bump it up on the queue. It wasn't written by him, so that explains why it doesn't have the usual dialog.
