Just so you guys know, the CET area currently observes daylight savings time, i.e. it's CEST right now, which is UTC+2.

Everyone sent in a title! Woo! :)
I will be assigning these titles over the weekend. If anyone else wishes to participate, you can still send me your titles, but please do so as soon as possible. Thanks!

Hey, Noma

Did you assign titles and miss me off the list or have you just not had a chance to, yet? No worries either way, just want to make sure I'm not accidentally missing out on title-y goodness!

Oooo, excited for this.

The kids (9 and 11) are already bantering around zany 9- and 11-year-old ideas. Apologies for any excessive zaniness that may result.

Well, turns out I won't be able to publish the results on time, probably will be too busy with other things until about two weeks later. Sorry, folks!

That's a shame. I've submitted mine anyway but we could just upload them here for the interim? I'm generally an impatient man, though, so what do other folk think?

I'd be totally fine with posting 'em on our own. No reason jast has to handle all the hosting when this very forum is more than capable of doing it anyway.

Say you’re going primitive, possibilities are unlimited, this
Modern life is rubbish, ‘cos it goes by in a blur
You’re Downscaling, back to nature. Though your therapist will hate ya,
I can’t wait to see you out, about in your wolf furs!

Break from all technology? Let’s go back to 10 Million BC!

Let’s go primitive, back before the pyramids, we’re going
Postal, going native, guarantee you’re going to hate it!

Say you’re going back to basics, what a waste of time - just face it
All the basics to go back to never were that good, a
Tasteless, graceless world of hatred, pasty racists’ angry faces, the
Only GP you could see? Witch doctor in the woods.

Deliveroo they don’t deliver to the prehistoric era
What you going to do to stop your tummy rumbling?
I don’t see you setting out on late night hunt on Clapham Common
Spare those foxes - some folk were not made for foraging.

Wonder how far you will get without your daily internet?

Don’t go primitive, It was crap before the pyramids
Brutality and grimaces, illnesses and syphillis
Don’t go primitive, it was crap before the pyramids, don’t go
Postal, don’t go native, no way you’re gonna make it!

Say you’re going primitive, at least you took initiative;
But it seems indicative of our friendship going wrong.
I don’t see you scratching letters into rocks, to hand-deliver,
Any more than I see me in revealing wolfskin thong.

in the one human settlement left, after the end
the last few survivors ignore the temperature trend
as the scientists work beneath them, seeking a cure
the rich and the royalty party like never before

perched on a mountaintop, living off ice
the queen of the earth takes one last throw of the dice
she turns up the heat in the shower, finding it soothing
but under the glacier, something is moving

the professor rushes out from his lab in the rock
says he’s finally found a way to turn back the clock
the king looks delighted, he’s grateful to say the least
the scientist has woken him just in time for the feast

heads in the clouds, feet dipped in the water
the shameless elite will be the last to the slaughter
the politicians lie that things are improving
while under the glacier, something is moving

You can hide yourself down a deep, dark hole
Or hoist yourself on a really tall pole
Anything that’ll help you get away

You can do heavy drugs to numb the pain, or
Ask a surgeon to remove your brain
So you can fit right in and start to play

Change your face and change your name
Hide everything that brings you shame
Or go on a preemptive sneak attack

Dig deep into the viper’s pit
Embroil yourself in petty shit
Just commit ‘coz there’s no turning back

Oh, I wish I didn’t worry oh so much
Oh, I wish I could feel fine
Oh, if only all my hopes weren’t out of touch
I wish my safety weren’t on the line

If you’re accused of doing a bad crime
Want to hide for a very very very long time
Consider all the possibilities

Make a run for President
Convince the people you are heaven sent
You might just win and then you are home free

Even if you’re caught lying
Everyone gives you points for trying
It’s not that the bear stakes well, it skates at all

Even if you destroy the world
It doesn’t matter, you can fuck every girl
And then you can go home and take your ball

Oh, I wish I didn’t worry oh so much
Oh, I wish I could feel fine
Oh, if only all my hopes weren’t out of touch
I wish my safety weren’t on the line

In the long run everything will be fine
It will just be a matter of time, in
Twelve billion years this will all be gone

In the meantime just try to survive
The world is better with you alive
Outliving him is a reason to go on

For my part of the circle, I submitted "Glacier" and received a choice of "Eggplant Jellybean" or "Door Jam". I chose the latter.

Forgiveness - Pigfarmer Jr

Well, you never understood what I was saying
And you never had the guts to look me in the eye
You keep on saying it's my fault
That you had a rough life

And don't you know I tried to tell you
Not to make the same mistakes as me
Breaking the law has consequences
I guess that's our destiny

Please don't ask for my forgiveness
There's nothing left for me to forgive
Please don't ask for my forgiveness
Go live your life, live and let live
Go live your life, live and let live

Look at me, son, I'm trying to tell you
Don't dwell on the mistakes you've made
And even though you can't hear me
I hope you know I don't feel betrayed

Please don't ask for my forgiveness
There's nothing left for me to forgive
Please don't ask for my forgiveness
Go live your life, live and let live

Please don't ask for my forgiveness
There's nothing left for me to forgive
Please don't ask for my forgiveness
Go live your life, live and let live
Go live your life, live and let live

I was given the choice of Raptor of Love or Forgiveness.

I offered the titles Primitive and Infidelities and was hoping someone would write to the title of Primitive Infidelities even though that'd be a third title.

Two-Toned Chimera
by Skub

Some days you're a lion doin' 95 and
Other days you're a snake
When you come around
Which form you will take?
When you roar I know no bounds
When you're low you drag me down
And no one else can see
The beast that always follows me

I'll run interference
When you make an appearance
My two-tone chimera
Yeah
Now i'm never alone

When you slither near and whisper in my ear that
I don't have what it takes
There is nothing I can do except wait
Until you go away
You're my uninvited guest
At my worst and at my best
And I can never say
Just which one it will be today

I'll run interference
When you make an appearance
My two-tone chimera
Yeah
Now I'm never alone
And year after year
I am seeing you clearer
My two-toned chimera
Has got a mind of its own

Sweetest Trails
By Lichen Throat

https://songfight.net/forums/download/file.php?id=1049

Later this summer,
Yeah, me and my love are
Gonna take off for two weeks.
Going up where
There’s much thinner air
On the slopes of the mountain peaks.

The money I spent
has bought myself a tent
And some brand new hiking boots.
Got a big backpack
With a CamelBak
And a sack of freeze-dried fruits.

My new sleeping bag
Is good to ten below,
So I’ll be nice and warm
Even if it snows.

Looking for the sweetest trails.
My skin has gotten much too pale.
Want to wander through the glades
And cool my feet in the clear cascades.

Do we start at Glacier Point,
Or where the river joins
Up with the creek from Mirror Lake?
Can we get all the way
To Mount Clark in four days,
Without having our feet ache?

Ready for the sweetest trails,
I’m sick of drinking these bitter ales.
Want to leave city life behind;
I feel so desperate to unwind.

The day has come at last;
Grab my heavy pack.
After half a mile,
I feel like a hunchback.

At the camp tonight,
By the firelight
We toast our marshmallows,
Hear the wind in the forest,
Wonder whose feet are sorest,
And bask in the alpenglow.

Got a long day ahead,
So it’s time for bed,
And we crawl into the tent.
A gray owl cries
As I close my eyes,
And I finally feel content.

These are the sweetest trails,
Where untamed nature still prevails.
How could anyone despair
After breathing this mountain air?
