1. Your first post to this forum is critical of how a certain annual tradition is run?
2. Obscure songs from bands that don't have available links may make it difficult for someone to learn the songs. Another possibility is to host the song files yourself for the person who happens to get your list.
3. "only 4 songs? that's not fair"? What, exactly, isn't fair about what?
4. Oh, sorry, ktp may not play by this world's rules.

Also, I googled "Gogol Bordello" and "Youtube" and immediately found that song on your list. A little effort, please!

Yeah, I like Gogol Bordello too... although I think they're best consumed live. If someone covers this one they should include an Emir Kusturica-esque music video to accompany it. That would be kickass.

(And in case my post was too ambiguous... I didn't mean for YOU to expend more effort, sir Roymond... I meant new dude! New dude! Welcome to Songfight! Throw us bone, here! In any case, I'm prolly just bitter 'cause I had to look so long to find the songs on my own stoopid list! Stoopid Shellac! Have more of an internet presence!)

I would love to be in on this as well.

Though it's tempting to just throw up four Andrew Lloyd Webber tracks or all underground hip-hop (I'd be interested to see how some sample-heavy songs would be covered), etc. I think I'll be boring and keep it a bit more standard. I can't wait to see what sort of assignment I get.. I'll edit this with some links shortly.

Animal Collective - 'Did You See the Words?'
My Bloody Valentine - 'When You Sleep'
Neutral Milk Hotel - 'In the Aeroplane over the Sea'
the Crystals - 'He's a Rebel'

[Bonus points if whoever gets this can balance some texture/noise with the more standard structured pop song elements in these tracks. No big deal if not, but that's what I love!]
