I have some friends in a cover band that I've been begging to let me do their demo. I think they do at least one Blondie song, although I'm not sure what song it is. This may be the perfect excuse to finally get them to commit to recording. I can't promise it will happen, but if it does I promise it will be good.

I just have to post this.

They were probably the ugliest band ever. (except Debbie, who was probably the most gorgeous singer ever) Frank Infante, who does the duet vocals with Debbie, looks like a weird, pockmarked alien freak. This song fucking rules. Look at Clem Burke (the drummer) go! He's channeling Keith Moon here, I think.

I think I may try to get on this with an attempt to do a rendition of Shayla.
Maybe.

Just a friendly reminder, less than a month. I know that's a lot of time in the SF! context, but still. Just outta curiousity, who's still going to do a song for this?

Oh damn, I forgot. I'll get something together on Sunday and get it over to Steve, if he's still up for a cyber gig.

Maybe you should add "Blondie covers" to the title of this thread.

OK, I'm definitely gonna do Call Me. Or, y'know, the flake-out option.

I'm sure that if you get Caravan Ray a pizza, 6 pack of beer and a pile of dirty magazines, he'll sticky it for you. :P

OK, the bad(?) news is that I won't be doing Call Me.

The good(!) news is that Bloodberries And Cream will instead :)

Still leaning towards War Child, but my tardy GOM takes precedence. Haven't even listened to my much anticipated gift (Ramones, fuck yeah!) as penance and proper behaviour.

Maybe my IRL band (aka Whoregasm) will be up for knocking out the Blondie cover with me. Hmmm...

I started on "The Tide Is High" today. I really want to do it in an upbeat and punky style. The only covers I've found on youtube have been pop crap, like the atomic kittens, etc. I think I got a grasp on keeping the original feel and keeping it edgy. We shall see.

Oddly enough, Blondie's version of this song is actually a cover of a 1967 song by The Paragons

They did a lot of covers, most of which are surprising to discover that they didn't write the original song; Hanging on the Telephone, written by the Nerves, and Denis, originally by Randy and the Rainbows (?!) are two that come to mind.

Damn, thanks Mark, that is really cool to know. I just searched them on youtube and found their version here >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4u7znJ2rRjc
Now knowing that the original version says, "I'm not the kind of guy", where Blondie says girl, really gave me a great idea.

The ball is rolling and should roll into town on time. Maybe crash into town is more appropriate, but still, it's on the way.

I intend on spending this entire weekend recording stuff for this.

I *intend* on doing this, but what will probably happen is that I'll just get drunk. The night is still young, though.

I started on something, but I didn't have the time for the bulk of the work that it took. And there was no guarantee that it would be good. But if there's an extension, I'll very likely try to finish.
