This just happened again with the same three songs, which, again, have not moved. Baffling!

This site needs community advertising...but at the same time its hard to advertise a site with these little nit picky issues.

I was just thinking about using The Funeral Dazies Google fan group to do a little songfight / somesongs name dropping when it gets a little more popular.

Ha ha! Probably the site is disabling our songs as a form of self preservation. Or as a desperate cry for help. ;)

It's kind of hard to believe you when you don't give any reasons as to why it would be dangerous to remain here...

I stop rating for a while from now on. Too many things offline that take my attention right now...

But... I am curious when the (or if a) next person is going to comment and rate all 1360 songs on somesongs... it appears to be far more easy to post a song than to take the time and rate and comment another person's song.

Not sure if this is relevant or even helpful to the conversation, but here's what I generally do, on the odd occassion I post a track over at somesongs, I then take the next couple of days to listen rate and comment on all the other songs on the front page, therefore with a ratio of one post to fourteen comments/ratings, if everybody that posted did the same then there'd be no need for this debate, if there was some indication on the front page that said something along the lines of....

"Hey feel free to post any new songs you have, right here! but remember if you want any feedback then rate and comment on the other fourteen artists directly below your entry".

It would create a kind of pyramid effect! just a thought!

Just to let you know that I give up my leading role on saving somesongs, which I think is a great archive of music, but otherwise quite dead.
I had a great time over there and discovered some wonderful music and artists, plus I got some insightful advice from comments of other members on my songs; but I won't be rating or submitting any more.

My final stats:
non-hidden songs you've rated: 1417 (2 you haven't)
your average rating (good=10/bad=0): 5.22 (500 goods / 561 okays / 273 bads)

Sorry Tuuur, I haven't been a very good somesongs citizen lately. If you return to somesongs today, you will find a nice surprise.

Do you think that having a new admin or admins would help the site? It seems like Jefff doesn't have much time to maintain the site these days. I'm not complaining, just making an observation, and wondering if that's a factor in the site's decline. Also, do you think some new development on the site's code (bug fixes, new features, etc.) would help bring some life/interest back to it? Again, Jefff doesn't seem to have much time for that either and has expressed some reluctance about opening up the source code so that others could work on it. I'm not complaining about that either, just making more observations. Obviously it's Jefff's site and code and he has every right to do whatever he wants with it. Anyway, if people think those things are factors, I have a proposal.

Lunk, you could start a new one, "the new somesongs" to give homage to the original. Then notify the members. Maybe even have a historian archive for the original SS archive. With the SS owner(s) approval, of course. Sometimes all it takes is a whole new look with a fresh approach to create new excitement.
