My animation needs a band.

Post by PiGPEN »

Animation demo. (2 min 4mb)
The animation is Morphemon Duelists Ep2, a comedy about a group of teenagers who routinely skip school to hang out and play with their Morphemon (morphing electronic monsters)...which im sure sounds very cliche but...well...im lame at concept writing, im all about characters and situation.
This is going to be a big animation, estimated at 25 minutes long. I currently have approximately 13 minutes of running time complete.

I'm looking for a traditional rock 4 piece (drums, bass, guitar, guitar) to work with me on the soundtrack.
I want to have a similar effect with the music as to what the pillows did for FLCL.
Vocalists are not necessary as most of the music will be backing music or have actors doing vocals in-character.
I can't offer any monetary compensation at the moment but pay is definitely a possibility at completion (i'll be going for every method possible to squeeze money out of it; sponsorship, advertising, merchandising)...if the music is great a soundtrack would not be hard to sell.

If you're interested email me about it along with links to (or attach) your best/most-fitting music.

Additionally...
-I'm looking for voice actors.
-I'm looking for someone to do a couple 3d scenes for me involving making 2 models of morphemon, a little model animation and much camera spinning.

I'm interested. Paco always says that my lead guitar sounds like something from a Japanese video game. :?
I've never done a voice over, but I'm up for that too.

It just so happens that my band The Funeral Dazies are in the studio... we're a concept band for that matter, but our concept may not be up your alley.

http://www.thefuneraldazies.com Follow the music link, maybe don't click the first mp3...Just to give you and idea of what we sound like. The three NEW songs we are recording are as follows:

She Rots - Upbeat punk song about a guy who longs for a girl who is dead and burried. She rots, in the cemetery lot she rots.

Napoleon From Neptune - A standard rock tune with maybe a '70's feel about an Astronaut on his way out. Not as dramatic as that old David Bowie song and it definitely chugs along a bit faster pace.

Everybody's Gonna Die - A standard 'Chuck berry' type 1/3/5 song about Nuclear War and the Apocalyptic aftermath. All done tongue and cheek and way cheery.

Again, I don't necessarily believe that our concept will match yours, but we ARE a real band with real drums and real singers and guitarists and the whole 9 yards and we are currently recording. What I'm really saying is that we may be able to work with you on something if we can somehow line part of your concept with part of ours.

Here are a few without vocals. I watched your animation, and I chose the following songs that I thought might work, but you may have a completely different idea. Take a listen and let me know if any fit your criteria. Also, these are MP3s, but I can send high quality wav files. I have many more songs that I can pull the vocals out of. They sound much better without me singing.

Convalescence-no vox

How Much Will You Give Me-no vox

Let Me In-no vox

Ties of Blood and Water-no vox This song got me kicked out of Nur Eir 3, cha!

Still Waiting-No Vox With Generic's permission because he did the keys.

You-no vox With Fluffy's permission because he did the synth sounds.

These are donated, no monetary compensation necessary. Well, unless you get a huge movie check, feel free to buy me something neat-o.

About the style exactly...i stupidly seem to think everyone knows the pillows.....ive uploaded a few of their songs...
Little Busters
Blues Drive Monster
Last Dinosaur
Beautiful Morning With You
She is Perfect

Now that you have a better idea of what i'd like could you (asking both of you) record something similar?

Oh, then ...something we're in the middle of:

http://www.thefuneraldazies.com/misc/creepy4vocals.mp3

Thats the backing track to As Creepy As It Gets... Lyrics haven't been finished and thats a pre-pro version ready for your use if you want.

Post Script: Those three songs I mentioned in previously in my post here are not recorded yet... I wasn't sure at the time if you were accepting tracks previously recorded.

Well im not. This would require composing about 4-6 instrumentals based on conveying specific emotions. And another 2-4 songs that i would help compose for vocal inclusive songs (specifically the intro and credits songs).
I really like how you guys sound so how about emailing me for more specifics?

y'all might probably know this; but one of the most common ways composers write score for films is usually by assigning an instrument to each character that fits their persona the most; and use that instrument/tone range through out the entire film. whenever 2 characters are on screen their corresponding instruments are playing to the mood of the scene.
commons sense i know.. just FYI.

if i had talent and time, i would love to get my hands into something like this, but i don't. ahg.
