First Semiannual Parody Fight!

Post by Tyler Zahnke »

Hello! I'm proposing the first semiannual Parody Fight! You guys have done original songs for Song Fight, and some of you have done remakes for coverfights. I even heard about a short-lived spin-off called Remix Fight! This one is Parody Fight! If any of you are willing to be like Weird Al and write funny lyrics to existing songs, then this is for you. Parody Fight! Entries will be linked to on Sfbase, the Song Fight wiki. One will be in December, one in June. The December one will always have Christmas parodies as a theme. No specific title or artist to parody. If you are interested in such a sidefight, please reply on this thread.

Got a fly like an eagle
On my knee
Fly like an eagle
Biggest fly I ever see
Fly like an eagle
Not a bee
Fly like an eagle
Got a great big fly on me

Up through the front streets of France
Were did you go to, my love-ly?
I want to get into your pants
Yes I do, yes I do

Is the idea to parody any songs at all? Or popular songs? Or Song Fight! songs? Or what?

The June one is popular songs, December is popular Christmas songs. By the way, unlike Owens, you must record these parodies and send them. I said that in the post.

No. It will be like Song Fight, except no title. Right now, it's "Write a Christmas parody and record it. But email the address before emailing the song, and wait for a response." No rounds or elimination; it's just that there's no voting like Song Fight. That's the only thing this and Nur Ein have in common; no public voting.

I know. I just couldn't resist. But I have no plans to record them, so if anybody wants them, go for it.

in general when somebody has an idea for a sidefight, it's customary to write a post introducing the idea and then see who is interested before kicking it off. why are you controlling the sidefight via email off board? who are you, anyway? 4 posts, 3 of which are in this thread?

A friend of mine has been doing a Christmas parody CD for years. You wouldn't happen to know Grant, would you?

His songs are Christmas-themed parodies of non-Christmas songs. Is that what you had in mind?

Can I raise a practical question at this point?

Are we going to do this in June?

I'm not sure. I actually tried to delete this thread at one point (I typed it up very quickly), but maybe we'll still do it. I don't know.
