I hear people here like to write songs and I like that also

I am a young whippersnapper who has been teaching herself guitar for about 3 years (so no, I'm not an expert by any means). I've dabbled in songwriting before, but I was kind of thrown into it this summer when a friend of mine asked me to perform with her by way of "I'm doing some original compositions - what are you doing?" After scrambling to churn out an entire set list in two weeks, I wound up with some songs that were, in my opinion, kind of awful, but that in some way I was proud of. Immediately I wanted to get better. Having stalked SongFight for a few years, I thought this might be a good place to get constructive criticism, and I hope to participate in the next fight.
I can in no way guarantee that I will be awesome, but I will try.

If by "suck," you mean "Rawk to the point of making the rest of the look bad," yeah, MG, you suck.
Elissa, welcome to Song Fight! This is one of the best places I've ever found to hone your songwriting craft. Strive to be awesome and some day, you will!
(In the meantime, it's going to suck, but I think what MG really meant was, "We all sucked at some point. Welcome to the club!")
