After much deliberation, I have decided not to attend SFL this year. Sorry everyone. Have a great time!

Lodging remains the sticking point for me. Does anyone want to split the cost of a room?

Well, that sucks.

Okay folks, we are a month away from the show. Time for a show of hands, who is coming to SFL this year?

It is very unlikely that there will be a Cavedwellers appearance. My sister won't be in town then, work is ramping up, I never found a good fare for a plane ticket. It's not impossible, some windfall of money in the next 2 weeks, and I might do a whirlwind trip to New York, but it's nowhere near as easy as I thought it was going to be.

sorry guys, sounds like an awesome lineup! I wish I could be there.

Hey everyone, is the roster standing at just 8 performers?

If so, do we just stay with the one night? We have Sidewalk locked in for several hours, we can do 8 bands and a live fight without issue.

Or do we still shoot for two nights and I reach out to other local Songfighters who aren't regulars (like Airlines/Kenka or The Howling Monkeys)?

Do we stand with 8 bands and do a Saturday night FUBU where we do covers and whatnot? Original Flava night?

I think regardless, you should reach out to local Songfighters who aren't regulars. All those guys, from Metalmags to Frontalot to Ken Flagg etc etc, heck yeah.

Here's what I know:

Holly Furlone and I will be traveling together from New Hampshire early Saturday morning (July 16). I'd like to be in the city by noon or so.
We both need to be home sometime the following Monday. So yay, a weekend in New York! (We haven't secured a place to stay yet; still working on that.)

I'll be driving, and I'll have my full PA and a couple guitars and a bass and other musical miscellany on board. Mostly because it's all in there full-time anyway.
I can't wait to see you fine folks.

I'll land in NYC sometime on Wed 13th I believe, and am sticking around for two weeks, with one 'night' (16 hours) in Hawaii on way back to Aus.PLEASE don't cut it back to one night!
Also I have no plans for accom yet, my usual budget is $0 but Wednesday is a few too many nights sleeping in Burger King away from Sunday, where I might meet hospitable people in church.
Having said that: whatever, it's a tax deduction, will pay if need be *sigh* (she hates consumerism) (so do you)
MORE IMPORTANTLY: any suggestions about where else I might play/listen/write/record/go see live choose-your-own-side-of-the-story Shakespeare (that'll be happening) that I could see?
But seriously, I am serious about playing a few more shows, can play covers when reqd... will busk if I have to or if it'll be an important initiation! Will be my first time in USA, and I'll be back in LA Oct/Nov
Everything is about perspective.

Questions:

1. Rehearsal space?
2. Drum kit?
3. Other funs?

I forget if I posted my itinerary already but I'm arriving on the morning of the 12th (redeye flight YAY), leaving the evening of the 18th, and am staying at the Sheraton Four Points SoHo (which is a surprisingly-affordable-yet-luxurious capsule-style-but-not-a-capsule-hotel hotel).

1. Roymond is very good with these things. He knows some very good rehearsal spots. We may want to rent some space at Battalion. Or maybe Rivington which is within walking distance of Sidewalk.

2. Sidewalk has a kit (we just need to bring cymbals, which I've got)

3. NYC is full of the fun.

Pepper Jane, if you are hanging around in NYC after the 17th, you can always come to the Sidewalk Open Mic the next night and the Under St. Marks Open Mic the day after that.

News on the Saturday show to come on Thursday as I finally dot the i's and cross the t's.

So far my reach out to other songfighters has netted Kenka and the Howling Monkeys for the shows. Still awaiting other replies.

Hey, what's this year's blank & blank?
