Song Fight Live 2009 Gear Inventory

Post by Lunkhead »

OK, so who's bringing what? I assume we will want to have a backline setup that everyone can use, right? Post if you're providing some of that, and if you're bringing anything else you're willing to share with folks. Then we can update this first post with the complete gear inventory. As I mentioned in another thread it looks like Erin and I will be driving up so we can bring some stuff if need be. (I'd rather not haul too much but I can bring a guitar amp and an extra instrument or two perhaps.
  • PA, mixer, speakers, 1+ monitor speaker, 10 mics/stands/cables - house provided
    kick/snare/toms - Glenn
    Ampeg bass amp - Glenn
Ultimate Chorus guitar amp - Glenn
    Epiphone/Gibson electric guitar - Glenn
    Ovation acoustic/electric guitar - Glenn
    acoustic/electric guitar - Justin
Ibanez fretted electric bass - Glenn
    (fretted electric) bass - Justin
    Casio WK-1630 keyboard w/stand - Glenn
    Nord Lead 2x (w/stand?) - Spud
    8-string fretless bass - Spud
    mandolin - Justin
    2(+?) guitar stands - Glenn
pedal board w/tuner, distortion, etc. - inevitableguy
tuner pedal, possibly more pedals - Lunkhead
ukes, kazoos, other misc. - other
We still need:
  • hi-hat/cymbals/drum throne
I can probably provide a 1x12" guitar combo amp and another electric guitar (that would stay in tune), if no one closer than a 16 hour drive can do so. We may also bring some smaller, more portable miscellaneous stuff (melodica, ukulele, analog monophonic synth, etc.).

Ah, thanks for reminding me about that, Spud. It sounds like we're missing something that sounds like a piano, an acoustic guitar, and maybe a fretted bass for those who are not comfortable on a fretless? Probably it wouldn't hurt to have a second guitar amp. We might also want guitar stands. Is anyone bringing any of that kind of stuff? If so please mention it here.

I am currently planing on driving up, we'll be bringing an acoustic guitar (with builtin pickup), a bass, and a mandolin.

Upon request I could bring:

Banjo
Electic guitar
5 string fretted bass (low B)
4 string fretted acoustic bass (with pickup)

At the very least I'll also be providing:

Casio WK-1630 keyboard/keyboard stand. (Piano sounds decent. Click for audio example)
Ovation Celebrity CC24 Acoustic Guitar.
Epiphone/Gibson Special Model Electric Guitar
Ibanez Soundgear SR 300DX Bass Guitar
A couple of guitar stands.

Also a couple of other bass guitars, acoustic guitars and electric guitars in questionable or semi-questionable condition.

Drum kit is going to need a better hi-hat, some cymbals and a drum throne to be more than simply adequate.

ROCK!

Fluffy has been threatening to buy me a better drum throne for years. Perhaps this is the opportunity he has been waiting for. Hey fluffy! Watch the Stupid Deal for a drum throne!

If anyone needs some serious lo-fi, I'll be bringing my decrepit Fender Jagstang along with my pedal board (a tuner, two distortion pedals, and a stereo chorus pedal).

It sounds like anything else I could possibly bring is already covered...

Ooh, a tuner. Tuners are important. I will bring my Boss tuner pedal, to include as part of one of the guitar rigs.

I will bring:

- A ukulele
- A capo
- An electric violin
- Kazoos

in case anyone needs any of those things (perhaps simultaneously).

(I'd offer to bring pedals but it sounds like that's taken care of and I don't like checking anything bigger into my luggage because I am not as awesome as Spud.)

Theophilus Monk will be bringing a nice hollow-body electric guitar and we can bring a couple of stands, too. I could bring my dinky Fender practice amp, which could be miked with a 57 or whatever. Also, is there a sound guy provided?

I also have a banjo, a cheap uke, a kazoo, some percussion, a Boss distortion pedal, etc...

Yes. I have recently been informed that no one is allowed to touch the mixer that isn't an employee of the Empyrean.

The Empyrean is waiving the fee for the venue due to a miscommunication that lead to a double booking on Saturday night, but I'm still being charged for the sound guy. We're charging a small cover, and hopefully that will cover the cost of the flyers and the sound guy.

ROCK!

Yet another reason for me to not deal with the loop pedal this time. In my experience that always throws sound guys for, well, a loop.

Anyway because of my wrists it looks like I'm going to just be doing vocals. inevitableguy, it's all up to you!

Does that rule out getting a (preferably multitrack) board feed?

Ahhh! It's too much pressure!

So, does that mean you're not going to play drums, either? Or does beating on things only require upper arm health?

I don't 'think' it does, but I suppose that remains to be seen.

Are you wondering about the board feed for the benefit of recording the live sets? We will definitely get live recordings either way, but we'll make this work (to the best of my ability anyway.)

ROCK!

Yeah, I should think dude wouldn't mind, but I guess you never know. I'm going to bring my awesome Marantz PMD-620 and maybe a single condenser, though its onboard mics are nice.
