SongFight! Yanks and Banks LIVE FIGHT TITLE

Post by Spud »

Made you look!

So here's the question. Do we post a title now and you save it for the live fight, or do we post a title now and try to squeeze it in before the show? The question, as I now realize, is not about when we post it, it's about when it should be due.

Your thoughts are welcome.

Post it now, due Wednesday after livefight. Isn't that the normal schedule more or less?

I like the sound of that plan. That would give the live fighters time to receive and submit the live recordings of their songs if they want to.

I had an idea, but it's too complicated. Just give us a title, please :-)

Edit: and, yeah, it's too late to try to squeeze one in before the live fight.

Edit 2: how about resurrecting the old multiple-fight code and have one title for (only?) people participating in the live fight, and another fight for (only?) people who are NOT in the live fight?

What everyone else is suggesting.

The last couple of years, the live-fight title was only announced 24-48 hours before the actual live fight, but this was a deviation from previous years, and not a welcome change. When Songfighters are already in a location that is unfamiliar to most of them and running around trying to do all the things and see all the sights and practice and prep for the show, it's not conducive to good songwriting or well-prepared performances. Give us a chance to think a little about the song BEFORE we get there.

So yes, I say announce the title ASAP, and have the deadline follow the normal 10-day schedule. The actual live fight will occur midway through, which is not problematic in the slightest.

Hey Spud, is the new Song Fight! marquee logo a tribute to SFLNYC?
