Song Fight Live 2012 Musician Exchange

Post by inevitableguy »

Some people were starting to talk about this stuff in the roll call thread, but I thought it would be nice to keep that clean and give this topic its own dedicated thread.

I can play stringed instruments (guitar, bass, mandolin) if anyone is in need of such things.

I'm slowly getting my band set, but I'm still on the lookout for a bass player. Who's out there?

I am not much good for anything beyond vocalizing, but I'm happy to do whatever!

Strengths include yelling, musical saw, and toy instruments.

if you bring your saw and toy instruments, I'll make sure to incorporate them in my song fight live entry.

inevitable, i have a friend i might be able to borrow a bass from for practice. i can help, if you can't find an actual bass player.

I shall bring 'em then! PM me songs you're likely to do, and I'll attempt to brush up my skillz.

(That goes for anyone else who might be interested in such stuff, BTW.)

EDIT: Oh, wait, I'm a dingus -- SF Live entry. Got it. We'll be composing on the fly. :)

Is there a rehearsal space? There was talk of somebody's place, I believe, but I don't want to impose.

And if not, I'll be happy to do what Jon Eric did and dig us up something by remote. I know I very much need some quality time on Thursday / early Friday to hash things out.

Octothorpe Studios will be available starting Monday, July 9 until the gigs. We will need a guitar amp. I have PA, mics, stands, bass amp, drums, music stands, Nord Lead2, digital piano, and pretty much everything else you might need, except for that guitar amp. Mine is having power capacitor problems again. Damn.

edit: I don't have a standard, fretted bass. Someone else will need to supply for both practice and the gigs.

As I stated in another thread, I am willing to play drums (badly) and simple keys and maybe bass (badly).

Spud - my guitar amp cuts out occasionally...no good for the gigs, but reliable enough for practice. I can leave it at Octothorpe Studios for the week, along with my fretted bass.

I figured I would do guy and piano, so as not to rely overmuch on the assistance of others. And while I probably could do these without any assistance, rehearsing has made it clear to me that most of these songs would sound at least a little better if I had a backup vocalist. The backup parts are simple enough, and I would only need it on four (possibly five) of the six (possibly seven) songs I'll be performing. Let me know if you're interested.

Also, I see no reason it needs to be the same backup vocalist for each song, so if you want to split duties with other people by volunteering for just one or two songs, then that's fine too.

I'm already sad I can't make it. Now I'm doubly sad because I can't do any backup vocals. Good job, Jon. :(

I guess I could do backup vocals on a song or two. It'll help soften the blow if you decide to do "So Aggravating" again.

Nah, that performance of "So Aggravating" was a one-time-only ordeal, which I would never dream of inflicting on you all again. :)

Actually I'm already all set. Thanks for the offer, though!

A trollish, somewhat off-key, one-take guy-and-guitar song I recorded on my Dell stick microphone when I was seventeen got stuck in your head eight-and-a-half years later?

fluffy, you just made my day.

Well it was either that or the Brady Bunch theme song.
