I know it's not technically a video game since it's on the computer, but MotherLoad is getting the most playtime from me lately.

What are you talking about? This is nonsense. You don't need a console system to play video games.

Oh, also, all on the computer:
Guild Wars
Half-Life 2
Diablo 2
Audiosurf

Yeah! Well, I should say that's the expansion game, it's got that much more in it. I did stop playing for a while but picked it up again recently. In Act 5 with a new character.

Playing that again is partly the result of my desktop machine crashing with graphics - it hangs up with a BSOD if I play GW or HL2. I need to try to get help for this online, I've tried all the obvious stuff like graphics drivers and heat sensors and stuff. Anybody here an expert on such troubleshooting?

Oh, and no, never heard of hellgate.

If you're a D2 fan, you should definitely check out Hellgate: London. It's very d2-like, except that it's 3D and set in a post-apocalyptic London. Made by some of the folks behind the diablo series, who went off to form their own company.

Yah, I looked at the wiki this afternoon. Something that wasn't clear. I hate subscription fees. If you want to play with all the updates, but not multiplayer, do you need subscriptions?
Also, it'd probably bsod my comp till I get it fixed. 3d gfx are killing it, as far as I can tell.

Yes and no. There are different types of updates - general updates and 'content' updates. You have to subscribe to get the content updates (although I seem to remember reading somewhere that they intend these to 'trickle down' to non-subscribers). But you can get any of the fixes/rebalancing/other updates (such as the in-game email system etc.) for free, and you can play online for free as long as you want too (but subscribers get more character slots). I haven't played it for a while now, but while I was playing it I was having plenty of fun without having subscribed (I also hate subscription fees).

I just finished Professor Layton and the Mysterious Village on the DS. It was rather excellent. I put in about 24 hours in about two weeks. Made me feel really stupid at times, but I never wanted to stop playing.

I drop in on my neighbor, who has a Wii, and play Brawl with him at any opportunity.

I'm kind of between games right now, so I'm thinking about what I want to play next. Maybe Bioshock, now that the price finally dropped. Or maybe I should focus on getting those Orange Box games that I paid $50 for to work on my computer. Any other suggestions?

Generic, did you try Portal? I'd definitely put a priority on that one, since it's in the OB. I really enjoyed all the Half-Life 2 episodes, too. If your gfx are up to it.

Obs - I'll try to check that one out soon, but I better troubleshoot first.

Also, incidentally, I whupped Baal last night. Now for the cow level ;)

Portal was an incredible game, but really short. Once you figure everything out, it has no replay value. I wish there was an expansion pack. The only level that still gives me trouble (and that's including the endgame/defeating GLaDOS) is, umm, I can't recall the number, but it's where you press the button, the wall opens, there's a bunch of turrets... you have to time portals just right to place the energy orb inside the sliding door (with an incredibly short timer) receptacle? Ring any bells? The whole point of the level is to get the cube to keep the exit door open. That one is a bitch.

I hear they are developing Portal 2.

[edit] It's level 18. Hard sumbitch.

Still slowly making my way through Orange Box, on PS3 (I've finished Portal and am close to the end on HL-2, haven't started ep1/2 yet). I also own it on Steam but I never play anything except TF2 from that, and that's rare. I think that's the only game I'm really actively playing, aside from the random PSN downloads.

Portal was the main reason I bought the Orange Box, so I did bribe a friend to let me play it on his computer, even though I never figured out how to get it to work on my own computer. It kept crashing the instant I walked through the first portal.

Loved Portal. Loved loved loved loved loved it. I want to play it again. I want to get all the achievements. I want to play it with commentary. Unfortunately it won't work on my computer, so until that day, I'll have to be content with only having played it once.

Unless someone here knows something about getting stubborn games to work on computers that, for all intents and purposes, should be able to run said games...

Actually I played it straight through twice. Some sort of replay, anyway :) That level was tough. Did you try the challenge levels where they make them harder? Whoa!
