Got this yesterday morning (deferred birthday present). Haven't gone online with it yet. But the game is great. I like the wheel a lot, and we need a couple more of 'em, 'cause the nunchuck driving is not nearly as cool.

Just got a second Wii Wheel. The boys are having a hard time with the nunchuck. I'm getting used to it though, so now we can get all three of us on the track. I hope they were good today and didn't punch each other or anything, because that whole 'no video games tonight' business is punishment I frankly don't deserve.

Also: I've got to better position the Wii so that it catches the wifi signal. Once I get that figured out, I'll do the friend code thing.

I am such an idiot. I've been trying for MONTHS to find a place for that wireless USB thing to send a good signal to my Wii, right? So finally I give up and unplug the damn thing, and I go to use the Wii, and the signal is better than ever. Why? Because it is picking it up automatically from the wireless router in the other room, of course. I basically paid to buy an item that narrowed the signal broadcast and wasted a bunch of my time. Should have read the manual.

Anyway, I'll post my license number when I get home tonight.

It took me a little while to get the hang of steering by actually steering, but I'm starting to catch on. This is a whole lot of fun. The courses are just crazy this time around; much wackier than either of the three previous Mario Kart games. And I'm also really enjoying the music, which I didn't expect from a Mario Kart game.

Has everyone else gotten bored with it already?

No, although I haven't been on the Wii since you posted your code... I'll add you when I do.
I like the game a lot, although I never played any of the others.
If you like the music, you might enjoy this.
It's a lot! And it's a lot of fun even w/o the gameplay.

I'm one of those people who steers physically with the controls anyway so this makes me look like less of an idiot. I hope. :D

One of my biggest complaints about the Wii when it first came out is that it boils down your every action, which makes many games more exhausting than they would be on a standard controller.

For instance: When I play Mario Kart: Double Dash on the Gamecube, I often swerve my controller in the direction I'm turning. I do this even though it doesn't affect the movement of my character, but it's something of an involuntary reflex that shows I'm getting into it. In fact, you might say I do it because it doesn't affect my character.

On the Wii (games that use the Wiimote, anyway), everything affects your character. In Mario Kart Wii, I often find myself just leaning the wheel one way or the other without intending to steer. Or, worse, I often reach for the d-pad to steer, instead of simply turning the wheel. Slowly but surely, I'm deconditioning myself.

It's a blessing and a curse. It makes games more difficult to reduce to patterns. They made a bowling game for the Gameboy once and it was really easy to find guides that simply said, for instance, "Align your feet with the third dot on the right and hold the button until the arrow aligns with the third dot from the left, and you'll throw a strike." On the bowling minigame in Wii Sports, of course, it's impossible to make such a guide, because it's all in every single little movement of your hand.

I used to not like this about the Wii, but it's growing on me.

Hey, by the way, Coconut Mall is probably my favorite new course. What fun!

Yeah, I like steering with the whole remote. I got used to that real quick, but I've never been much of a consoler. Heh. Console-gamer. The sensors aren't totally accurate, actually, so e.g. in baseball if you try to do a half-swing (you see them doing it in real baseball) it'll swing all the way through.

The mall one is great!
The course I hate is Rainbow Road. Yuk!

Just picked it up.

All the negative reviews are stupid. This game is a blast. Bikes are awesome.

I'll put up my friend code as soon as I get back on WiFi (tonight?). I totally want to play you guys, since no one ever seems to play me in Smash Bros.

I finally played this at a friend's house a week ago. Best Mario Kart since the original. (I also liked the N64 one a lot but I hated the Gamecube one.)

I'm a bit surprised at how well the tilt controls work. (That is to say they work excellent.)

I still can't quite tell how this stacks up to the brilliant DS version, but yeah, it's very good.

I loved Double Dash, though. Even though powersliding with no hop felt so weird.

Know what stinks about this here game... I only play it when someone is over, and you can't unlock all the tracks/racers/cars in multiplayer... lame.

I have this too! I totally didn't realize you could play with people that weren't sitting next to you. Anyone want to meet up and play sometime?
