Rationale...Niv's an idiot who didn't realize until just now that you can't see the individual judges scores on the website and that I need to post them. Sigh.

Listening in reverse order of score (the default) is pretty funny. While I don't agree with the rankings in all cases (Inflatable should have been higher!) there is undoubtedly a feeling of things slowly falling apart as the list goes on :-)

You can see the individual scores. The site's just not optimized for viewing them all at once at the moment. Under the playlist link is a "sort by..." drop-down that will let you pick a particular judge # (no correlation to who the actual judge is). When you sort by that judge, it shows their score vs the total score in each row.

This is because the site is mobile-optimized. I intend on making a better overall view in the future.

Congrats BSS! Interesting round to say the least. We'll be listening at the LPs. Thanks for comments and feedback.

Kazoos can also sound like flies, but I like bees more. On second thought, with all the people that died in this happy song, flies seem more appropriate.

Congratulations to BSS for the win. Having been eliminated in Round One in 2014, I am thankful to have made it 100% farther in 2016. I was fully prepared to be eliminated since there were so many good songs!

Thanks for posting those Niv, it's interesting to see how divisive some of the songs are. Micah for instance got mostly top ranks except one judge gave him 3 points. That's wild!

A win for Krieger, a win for BSS. Are we on a crash course for a rematch of the Nur Ein V finale?

To be fair, my song was an accordion-driven musical theatre/rap number about a narcissistic superhero-chasing news reporter. Bound to not be someone's cup of tea.

Oh, I totally missed that. You can post lyrics in Ye Olde Lyric Archive, where they can be found more easily. Still, good lyrics, though a bit too preachy for my taste. Are you a Morrissey fan?
BTW, I'm absolutely sure that Roald Dahl's short story "Pig" has turned a lot of people vegan. If you don't know it, go on and read it, but prepare for enduring nightmares (especially if you are a bit squeamish).

Who knows? bgm fascinates me, I'd like to see him make the final 4. The way he hides behind the pint of beer in that pic!

It's actually 2 pints!
A 1 litre mug at the HofbrÀuhaus in Munich.
I need to change that pic.

I just happened to realize that I will stumble across my 10 year anniversary as part of SongFight during Nur Ein, and I have not changed my pic.

Hi Noma
I'm not familiar with either song (assuming they aren't the same one) you mention here, so no ... but it is true that Em C slide to D and G walkdown back to E is not exceptionally unique! In fact I use C D waaay too much at the moment. I'll work on that this week.

In other news, my guitar made it to Toronto after 33 hours of separation so now the practicing can continue. Apart from losing 2 days on planes I kind of get a free day ... neat hey? In a month or so if I'm still in the running I'll lose one tho :-/

If your lyrics this week include "I I I I I I I" (sounding like "why-y-y-y-y-y don't you use it" from Duran Duran's "Reflex") then, on paper, the lyrics kind of look like teeth marks. And any song in the present tense could be construed, technically, as a "current event." Avoid lame strategies such as this and just keep writing great songs with a fearless incorporation of the challenge, that's what I command!
Right. So I suppose something about an electrically charged shark attack would be too obvious then. Or a cheese taste tester just filling a maternity leave contract. :-/ actually I have way too many words this week and don't know quite what to do with them. Hmm, fearless ...

Hey, Em, C, D, and G are good chords. There's a reason they are used so often. As long as you don't ever use any other chords, that's OK.
By the way, substituting a D/F# (2000232) for D and a Cadd9 (032033) for C sounds really good when playing open chords on an acoustic guitar. I use these chords a lot. (They tend to sound even better if you use a capo at the 2nd or 3rd fret.)

I saw a show recently where the guy seemed to be only able to play in two keys, C and G. He just kept moving a capo up an down the neck to put the song in keys other than C and G. It a good trick.

It's probably just to avoid playing barred chords (Fs, Bs, etc.).
