Similar problem. In my head, It sounds fine. When I actually sing it, it's too high or too low for that song, so I have to transpose the parts and learn anything new in the new key. I'm going to try singing the chorus melody over the chorus chords, and adjust it until it has the right feel, then try working the rest of the song from there.

this is the part when judging gets really tough. they're all great songs and it's painful to rank them in the elimination spots. hopefully the judges' summation will even out the choices.

Mandibles - the chorus is oddly rushed on some syllables. The vocal isn’t my favorite style but it’s well done. Beatbox sounds good. Ouch, the ending changes things a bit, i didn’t expect that subject.
Merisan - nice drone bass. Voice is so pretty. The cadences aren’t grabbing me as much as i’d like but the sound is really good. That synth at 1:45 sounds like something from blade runner.
Owl - man i love the intro. Great guitars. I also like the contrast between the sections with the different vocals.
Rob - i like the background voices doing the more vocal beatbox, that’s cool. This rolls along in a nice way.
Vom - great synth and drums. Good chorus. Quite like these lyrics.
Carlo - this is really different, and in a good way, i love the uniqueness. Especially the stutter effects you’ve got going.
Grumpy - this reminds me of twenty one pilots. The rhymes are a little too pronounced though. Good beatbox and it rolls along nicely.
Lwtrg - i want to like this more but i’m having trouble finding the meat of it, what i can grab on to. The chorus especially doesn’t grab me like i hoped.

Well folks,
It was one heck of a run. I'm glad that our sparklegrunge band were able to make it this far. We had ended up in a strange situation. LWRG is going off to record our second studio album this weekend. We have been knee deep in rehearsals and at the same time battling through the Nur Ein and it all finally caught up to us. It's been one heck of an experience and I can't wait to see who pulls off the win this year. These last two rounds are going to be a barnburner.

Sorry to see you go! I had a listen to your first studio album last week, curious to hear what your sound was like without the added ambience, and I thought it was very cool.

Farewell to Grumpy Mike and Mandibles also. I had the chorus from the Mandibles song stuck in my head all day today which appears to be a bad omen as I had the same thing with Nick Soma last week. I had no clue how this round would end up though, I think that group of songs was incredibly tight in terms of quality!

Delighted to be through to the penultimate round! And to not have to beatbox ever again!

Carlo Bruno Jr.
Clear beat boxing, so you fulfilled the challenge well. Love all the little sounds you use!

Grumpy Mike
“You leave fallout everywhere you go” :-). Excellent beat boxing, very clearly audible. Intricate lyrics, great rapping. Very impressive!

Lucky Witch & the Righteous Ghost
The slowness makes it hypnotizing, and the xylophone-like sound fits well.

Mandibles
Nice angry lyrics and musically it flows well. Love the guitar!

Merisian
Beautiful vocals, excellent production. Clever how you used ‘waste’ as ‘waste of time’. Nice ending :-)

Owl Chemist
Love the arrangement, great sound! I wonder what an (al)chemist would do with lead and mercury.

Vom Vorton
Great story as usual by you!

I’ve really been enjoying reading and listening to everyone’s reviews these past few weeks, especially the podcast. Is there no new ugly this week? :(

Continue listening past the end if you wanted to hear the crazy story behind my song.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

Hehe, cheers! One of the rare cases when having hazardous waste stuck in your head can be said to be a good thing.
