Merisan's probably my favorite this week. But all of the songs are really good. Curious to see who the final two are gonna be.

There's no red in the scores anymore, because these are all amazing. Ugh...Nur Ein!

That was a good one, I really enjoy listening to you guys argue about stuff. Particularly interesting stuff about my song this week, since when I wrote it I wasn't sure whether to go for the jangly 50s thing or fuzz the guitars up and do it punk-pop style. I hadn't really thought about it being a musical / Grease-type song but I'm 100% on board with that!

Good episode guys!

I should never sing, for all competitive contest purposes, me singing is always the second choice.
Thanks for the kind words!

Is it really similar to the Police song? okay 4 chord pattern in E. Police is 6 4 5 2, mine is 6 1 5 4. Mine is power chords with a Rushy lick, Andy Summers is doing major 9ths (power chord atop a power chord). They're at 149 bpm, I'm at 160.

Thanks for podcasting!

Cheers!

Fun podcast!

Like Mike and I talked in the Listening Party, this chord progression was a ripoff of Weezer's "Summer Elaine and Drunk Dory". Rivers said it was a ripoff of "Walk Away Renee" progression, but I totally heard the Pachelbel Canon in D. My whole song was a semi-random cut-apart song about a guy who does random cut-apart lyrics, like Rivers did in "Elaine" and the crazy girl who totally misinterprets it, and somehow gets it right. "She sucks... at arithmetic" was semi-intentional but maybe not sexual - but it's up to fan theory.

Great episode, as always!

Editing note: I love how you made Owl Chemist’s song sound like it was sneaking up from behind you during its intro.

Pleased to have been part of this up to this point, it is always pleasant for me.
I want to thank those of you who have given us your reviews, and especially the judges for their weekly work. I know it's not easy, I did it in Nur Ein IX.

Good luck to the two survivors.

I was on vacation while doing the reviews, with very bad internet, that then went out entirely. So here are my slightly-belated reviews.

Carlo - i like the organ here, but the whole song seems a little ponderous. Makes it seem longer than it actually is.
Merisan - i only ever saw the first episode of that show, so i can’t speak to the tie-in. The pickup section is good there. The ending is very good.
Owl - nice sounds in the intro. Nicely portentous. Good vocals. Good callouts to dylan lyrics.
Rob - your vocal style is very different and distinctive. I like the mentions of macguffin and confirmation bias.
Vom - inkling of winks is really good. Backing vox are great. Good guitar. Les and paul, heh.
