Regardless of how you view the guest's actual performance, it has no bearing on the songwriting, composition, nor arrangement, which are equally important aspects of this competition. I am sure that different judges assign different weights to these various components.frankie big face wrote:Hurt. Hurt bad.inevitableguy wrote:Hm. I did not know that. I'm not very tech savvy, but are you using a flatbed type or a single sheet feeder? Also, you may have it sitting on your desk facing the wrong way. Simply rotate it 180 degrees in a clockwise direction. You're welcome.Caravan Ray wrote: 3. Billy's Little Trip (f/ Steve Durand) - Some of the lyrics don't seem to scan right

Re: Nur Ein V: Round 3
Sorry, yo, it just wasn't happening. Got too ambitious with the words, and it didn't gel in the timeframe... deep heavy stuff, over cello, violin, and jaw-harp. And I like it too much to do it a quickie disservice.
Was this an unofficial cello fight, btw?
I do want to finish the thing, it's another interesting (to me, anyway) experiment in finding what makes a song... errr... work. Besides, I enjoy the arranging side. Nur Ein, y'all!
@blt: Counter-clockwise, yo. Counter-clockwise.

I'm liking your experimental stuff. Your Spanish Lesson was fuckin' groovin'. It made me think of back when acid jazz first hit the scene about 15'ish years ago, and there was/is a band with a bass player with 2 strings and a sax player (can't think of their name) that made some great music.Rabid Garfunkel wrote: I do want to finish the thing, it's another interesting (to me, anyway) experiment in finding what makes a song

heh, I typed "on" instead of "in". changes everything, but still funny.
also, BLT typed "acid jAzz". that just changes everything.

I used to love that band, saw them many times, etc. I was just feeling bummed out all over again about Mark Sandman dying on stage of a heart attack. At least it's a hell of a way to go.

Thanks for the reviews, though, guys. My feelings aren't even hurt this week by nobody liking it, because I thought that despite the mediocre mixing, we nailed the demonic insanity of the cult in question.

So if that judge doesn't get his rankings in on time again, can he be eliminated and replaced with an alternate? Maybe we should run a parallel competition, for the judges, kind of like "Project Runway" and "Models of the Runway"?

"When i hear Joga, it sends me through time", but that even though more true for me does not sound anywhere near as good as "all is full of love". It sounds like Yoga, which would be all too confusing.
...and he is correct!
Since my lyrics are totally autobiographical, there was a not too much thinking about which "Homogenic" song to use.
I chose "All is full of love" to represent the album, becuase it is well known. If I had included "I'm a fountain of blood, in the shape of a girl" ( from "Bachelorette", which is actually my favorite song on Homogenic, released in North America on September 23rd, 1997 ), it would have been harder for some folks who are not familiar with the album to make a connection.
I bought that album at the Tower Records in Berkeley, CA on the day it came out. My room mate, (the one in the song) worked there... she saved me a copy!).
I have been a fan of Bjork in all of her incarnations, and that album is certainly an influential part of my early 20's. I listened to it everyday on my train ride (BART) to work. Those were the days of the "discman"...no shuffling around.. just one album to bond with at a time. It's what stood out most for me when I looked back at 1997.

Re: Nur Ein V: Round 3
But if you're talking 97, Bachelorette would've been the way to go. "All is..." didn't become a hit until well after, while "Bachelorette" was the big hit in 97 especially with the genius Michel Gondry music video. And I think "Bachelorette" just as well known as "All Is...".erin. wrote: I chose "All is full of love" to represent the album, becuase it is well known. A song doesn't have to be a hit for it to take you back to an era. For instance the Proclaimers song "500 miles" will always take me back to drunken high school parties in 1990, when we bought the album and played the hell out of it. It didn't become a hit until 1993 when it landed the Benny and Joon soundtrack. But if you're talking 97, Bachelorette would've been the way to go. The answer should be obvious.....
girls!
One of the best songs to woo women ever, plus it was very easy for a beginning guitarist to play those 3 chords.

I just think it is better known in my own circles, and maybe even on Songfight.
As I said before, I didn't really think too much about it. The lyrics I wrote are a true story, and so no matter what you say about which song was more popular, I am the one who lived those lyrics. When I hear "all is full of love", I think of my best friend and I living together in our early twenties. What is arguable about it?
Even if the tune of Bachelorette is more well known, I will bet you that fewer people can quote the lyrics from it. For many people on Songfight who are not fans of Bjork, but love DCFC, they are familiar the cover of "All is full of love" they did in 2003... they might not even know it's a Bjork song. But they Know "All is full of love".
Does the fact that I used this reference really matter anyway? The song is not about "all is full of love", it's about how I feel, and what I think of when I hear it. It's about a time in my life.
Regarding The Proclaimers.....I am not sure what kind of girl you were wooing, but for me, It just makes me think of "So I married an Axe Murderer".
