First we tried Masters of Song Fu. Then we joined SpinTunes. Next was Gift of Music.
The Boffo Yux Dudes now toss their hat in the ring for Nur Ein. Blame Spin and Niveous for the carnage that will result.
A word of warning. We've been dead last (Or close to it) in every round we've entered. So, of course, that means we're the ones to beat!

I guess not. I don't know what I did for Niveous to exclude me from this. I got an email yesterday asking me to judge, responded today, and the position was already filled. WTF?

I'd like to suggest some mandatory challenges. I realize the judges may not pick 'em up this year, but hopefully they'll stick in the minds of future years' judges when they read this. And, you know, two years later they'll think they came up with the ideas themselves.
As you may know, I'm for SERIOUS CHALLENGES. I encourage people to add to this list -- let's get the judges thinking big.
1. No instruments with strings. Guitars, pianos, violins, etc. -- that means you.
2. Only homemade DIY instruments.
3. The only instrument you may use is the human body.
4. All lyrics must be sung backwards and then reversed, Twin Peaks style.
5. Song must be sung in Dutch and lyrics must be provided.

The judges may not admit it, but they read these suggestions. Let's face it, they are only human and need ideas too.reve wrote:I'd like to suggest some mandatory challenges. So to this list I'll add:
6. Redo the music from any famous pop song from anytime in the history of music, BUT redo with original lyrics to fit the title given. This can be refined by years, such as "songs from the '70s" or "popular ABBA songs", etc. Kind of how rap songs sample great well known songs. Niveous can figure out how to use this challenge. It doesn't have to be as complicated as I make it sound, lol.

Yeah, only serious challenges. I'd like to add these to that list:
6. All instruments must be played left-handed if you're right-handed, and vice versa. Vocals must be sung out of your ass rather than your mouth, and vice-versa.
7. All music must be written and recorded with an ambient temperature less than that at which water freezes.
8. All music should be recorded with the performer(s) upside down.
9. Music must be in the key of A (minor or major) but must not use any A notes.
10. Tempo must be 500bpm.
11. All instruments must be played by household pets.

I don't mind stepping aside if Niv has made a previous commitment here. No drama. But I would like to judge since I don't think I will have the time to compete. Maybe a 'the more the merrier" approach is the go.The Weakest Suit wrote:Remember this (from the Nur Ein V thread):

I just offered to help judge in case he needed people. If there's others willing to do it, who have been told they can judge already, it's no big deal for me to step aside.

Re: Nur Ein VI
Thanks C Ray & Spin.
Here's the situation. I sent out a letter to TWS regarding judging. Now I know he had been gone from SF for a while. When he didn't respond yesterday, I prematurely thought that he had did the SF vanishing act like so many artists before him (where did you go, Sausage Boy?). At the same time, I got a sea of judge requests. Then he resurfaces. I apologized to him over PM and asked for him to give me a chance to fix it because he should rightfully be a judge. I had given him the position a year ago. But before I could rectify things, he wrote the whole what'd I do to Niv post.
Just a mistake. Again, sorry TWS. Hopefully, it can be cleared up without anymore board drama.

I certainly couldn't ask for a more diverse panel.

Shwew, other than the fact that half the panel hates Americans, I've never burned any bridges with this group of judges.
