Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Four
You're doin' it wrong.
I got a pretty decent idea for this song this morning. If I have energy, I'll do it just so you all have to suffer with my nasal singing and 8th note picking.

If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Four
Last night I started with a decent idea for Round Four.
Over the course of this afternoon, it has morphed into a phenominal idea for Round Four. The issue now is whether I can pull it off and do it justice. It can even incorporate a significant use of cacophony without any problem.
BTW, Niv, can you post the judges' rankings from Round Three, I'm very curious!

I had to get mine done early. I'm leaving tomorrow out of town for a couple days for my nephews wedding. It was easy, I just put work on the back burner because Nur Ein is more important than paying the bills.

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Four
My audio interface died about an hour ago and does not seem to be revivable. I may be done.

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Four
I have no hardware, software or other advice, but I have found that sometimes when I clear my head there can be another way. Good luck!frankie big face wrote:My audio interface died about an hour ago and does not seem to be revivable. I may be done.
For my part I started the week with about a dozen ideas, picked one, threw it out when I thought of something huge, then couldn't pull off the huge. Then I wrote one of the older ideas, but it simply sucked; boring, stupid. So I started over and that's what I'm recording right now. It may not get me to Round Five, but it's fun to do and so far sounds ok.

That's the only way I can beat you. The music gods work in mysterious ways.frankie big face wrote:My audio interface died about an hour ago and does not seem to be revivable. I may be done.
By the way, when I get booted on this round, you and I are tied. That means we're equals. Well, equals in everything except face size.
Hope you get your tech issues worked out Frank, been there and it sucks. Have you tried a screwdriver? Not for your interface, the kind with vodka for your outer face. I find those fix damn near everything.

My entry is in. Two songs about death in two weeks. Good grief, at least this one isn't depressing, at least not on purpose.

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Four
In. My original idea seemed almost too easy. Working at a psychiatric hospital, there is a daily cacophany of 20+ patients. Coming up with the ruckus was easy. But I thought of a different angle, and hope it works. No auto tune or pitch shifting. Hmm. Maybe I should look into that.
I don't want to see Frankie have to bail. We will all miss some good music. Along with a proper ass kicking!
Anyway, NUR EIN!!!!!!

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Four
Haha. No, my interface really is broken. I had to use a USB mic for piano and vocals. And then I remembered I had a Line 6 TonePort or whatever it's called so I learned how to use that for bass and guitar. So I pulled it together.Ross wrote:Tease.

Glad you are, too, Frankie. I mean we can't be having to put asterisks in the nur ein record books!

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Four
weeeeellllll.
i'm in. i'm going to sleep, and then show my face in a few hours. i thought it was better to come in with a bare ass than with no ass at all.
(i don't even know what that means).
i think it means this week that I'm a dumb ass. i'm going to sleep now. i should probably not drink anymore the day before nur ein. ever.

If this turns out to be our last week in this competition, it won't be because we failed to follow instructions.

Glad to hear you all got something in... Although I hope without hope that it's all worse than mine.
