Okay, for real now:
Your judges for Nur Ein X, in addition to myself, are...

Longtime Song Fight, Nur Ein, and FAWM participant... it's Pigfarmer Jr!
Long time Song Fight, Nur Ein, and FAWM participant, and a member of the original panel of judges from Nur Ein I, it's Johnny Cashpoint!
Long time Song Fight and Nur Ein participant, and last year's reigning champion, it's Caravan Ray!
And finally, a Song Fight and Nur Ein veteran, and the guy whose idea for "Song Fight Survivor" led to the creation of this competition, it's Andrew Reist!

I'm sorry for the delay in assembling the team, but we're hard at work on coming up with some titles and challenges for you all. Round 0 begins on Monday!

NUR EIN!!!!!!!!!!

Nice panel!

only 2 Americans? (JK)

That panel as an exhibition song writing band would be very cool, I hope to hear some exhibitions from you!

Newcomer! :) This'll be interesting. Do I need to sign up before or during Round 0?

It's completely coincidental, but I also noticed that our panel has five people from four countries. Pretty cool.

We'll see what we can do, as far as exhibition tracks.

No formal sign-up, per se. Just submit a song. I'll be posting the title, challenge, and instructions for submitting, just after midnight on Sunday.

I'd like to adhere to precedent for most aspects of this competition. Unless I'm mistaken, Niveous has always held Nur Ein by Eastern Daylight Time (New York), so that's what I'll stick with. That's 9pm for you, Rabz.

Wow, that came fast. I'm on the (L)east Coast and need to be at work in less about 6 hours (yikes), but I'm looking forward to seeing the first title/challenge tomorrow.

They're up now! (They were already up by the time you posted this, in fact.) Enjoy, everyone!

That does indeed suck. I was just listening to some of last year's songs in my car yesterday, and marveling about how nice it was to have someone with your manic enthusiasm in these rounds. See you next year, I hope!

So the next title will be posted on the 21st? Is that right? If so, is it bad form to start working on arrangements in advance of the title? Mondays are my day at my practice space, so it tends to be a good time to work on stuff like this.

In theory, the new title and challenge should have been posted already, and so should the Round 0 songs. I'm a little conflicted on how to handle this, but after some thought, my ruling is that I'll post the title when the songs are up. Last year, the song/challenge wound up getting posted some time on Monday morning anyway. Good luck! And, you know, don't get too close to your arrangement, because you never know when the challenge will mess up your plans.

Well, I was premature.

Anyway. The Round Zero songs are up, and so are the title and challenge for Round One.

There are 23 entries, so everyone advances by default. NUR EIN!

If I'm not mistaken, working on writing the song before the title and challenge are posted goes against the spirit, if not the rules, of the competition. I would assume this also applies to "arrangement." ( not sure how you arrange an unwritten song).

Of course, it's all trust method around here so....

I promise I won't screw everything up by submitting two songs like I said I was going to do. However, I have a great idea for The Average Circus that I am now disappointed I will not be working anymore. I did have a lot of fun writing it though. So much fun that I started thinking it was this week's regular fight!

Good luck everyone. Nur Ein (next year)! :)

Feel free to make a "Nein" thread and post the song there when you're done. You should be able to use the File Upload interface below the Message Body section to upload a reasonably-sized mp3 file if you don't have hosting space.
