We only had 23 songs, so I guess just keep entering two songs a week until one of your identities is booted out? Unless this isn't Frank, in which case, Welcome, newcomer! Your voice sounds exactly like our former champion Frankie Big Face!
This seemed to be more of a FBF feature than a second identity. ATLM is a guy named Erik. He wrote the song/melody and played all the instruments, but got FBF to do the vox.

Boffo Yux Dudes and Pop Machine. :) I seem to remember being told it had been Frowned Upon, but Tom can correct me if I'm wrong and people thought it was actually funny :)

Thanks for clearing that up, Niveous. I think it's fine to let that stand, then. I know there's that "cross-pollination" precedent, but that's been broken before without too much consternation.

I think it's bull, and that both Frank and other-Frank should both be DQ'd immediately. Nur Ein! :P

As for my new band name, I don't really see how it's relevant whether I picked it before or after I wrote the lyrics. There was never any requirement that anyone use an established name. Caravan Ray and Ben Krieger have entered under many different monikers over the years, which may or may not have been names they used before, and nobody asked about it before.

For the record, though, I did come up with the name before the lyrics.

As for Mr. Meow, I thought it was Ben Krieger...?

Whoa whoa whoa! Everyone settle down, especially you Lunkhead, if that is your real name...

First of all, I can't believe none of you have heard of the locally famous French Canadian indie jazz duo à tous les monsieurs! Nur Ein is a real step down for them so have some goddamned respect!

And yes, I admit I sound a little like their lead singer. BECAUSE I HAVE ASPIRED MY ENTIRE LIFE TO SOUND LIKE HIM. To say he sounds like me, well....it's flattering to me and an insult to him!

And no, they do not speak perfect French and even sometimes the man known on the boards as "à tous les monsieurs" may forget that "ce est" needs to be contracted to "c'est" but dammit, how many languages can you speak! These guys are busy preparing for the Montreal Jazz Festival, not practicing their goddamned grammar!

And so, I conclude: I am not à tous les monsieurs.

(But I do sometimes form my mouth into word shapes and force varying amounts of air through my vocal cords for my friend Erik, who writes, plays and records everything.)

Damn Google translate.

This song is all me. There is no way Frank would ever write lyrics that sound like they hail from Greg Lake era King Crimson. I'm surprised he was willing to sing the words "heraldry" and "fleur de lis" with such sincerity.

Quite true. Back in our younger, less informed days, we figured we could be two groups. So for our first Nur Ein, we figured we'd each be a Band, and the most we'd have to do is create 16 songs in 8 weeks. Easy Peasy.

Hubris took hold quickly, with Al's Pop Machine (actually a group with a 20 year pedigree and multiple plays on Dr. Demento) was summarily Dismissed in Round 1, quickly followed by BYD in Round 2. However, no malice was intended. We didn't know a rule actually existed at the time, we just did it for snark value.

Bless you, Ranger Denni, for remembering us from all those years ago.

Ah I beat you to this subject matter by about 3 years. Since it's round zero, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you never actually listened to the CD I gave you back in 2012 where it's the first song, rather than push for immediate disqualification for blatant stealing of a judge's ideas ;P (Actually, I seem to remember I stole the idea off Max Van Remmerdern anyway) -

As much as I do honestly find it actually very lame for somebody to have entered twice, I have to grudgingly admit that "a tout les monsieurs" song is my favorite. But it's only because of the exquisite guitar playing, which I know is not Frank. Nur Ein! :P

Well, here we go again....
I have listened to all the songs and imho, Adam and Zack tied for this round.
All the songs are very good and hopefully.....I'll have a dog in this hunt for another day or two.
I'm in the middle of a four day rest, then back on tour for the next five. Trying to piece together some three-ring ideas for the next deadline.
Hey Mr. Meow.....you were my pup's paws down winner !!!!!!!!!(crazy)

So far Carlo has my favorite, but there's a lot of strong songs! Ken and Balance Lost and TBTBAA are other favorites.

Carlo Bruno Jr. was my favorite, too, but there definitely are some other very strong showings. Paco killed it as well. Will try and do reviews at some point. Pretty consumed at the moment with another project I'm working on, building a modular synth. I'm hoping that I'll make it far enough into Nur Ein to actually use some synth sounds on a recording. Would probably be pretty abstract stuff at this point :-)

Having my first (judging) listen - and agree with this.
Will also add Orange Lazarus to the shout-out. And Rabid Freaking Garfunkel! That is awesome.

A lot I like - I shall juggle preferences in coming days.

That's because Denni is awesome. We all know that by now!

And regarding the BYD/Pop Machine experiment (specifically the Pop Machine round 1 entry), if by "summarily dismissed" you mean "universally loathed", you are correct. However, IIRC, it was only the Pop Machine low placing in Round 1 that bumped the BYD entry up enough for us to make Round 2. Ha! Strategy!
