@Jon: Yeah, I imagine judging that many songs gets a bit tedious. It's weird, I almost always find when I write a song I have try and pad it out so it's at least a couple of minutes. For whatever reason this song just ballooned. I think it's a good sign, maybe I'm getting better at writing fuller ideas.

Just for completeness, it is:Niveous wrote: Tydon Docks/Sid Denison and the Harpooners
Tex Beaumont and the Dirty Hearts/Sid Denison and the Harpooners/Genevieve Johnson and the Chiefs/The Tydon Docks. (Caravan Ray has never entered Nur Ein).
And changing your name to fit the song seems like a perfectly valid strategy to me (though you would then have to stick with that name)
Must admit - it is a loophole that I did not foresee using that challenge for Round 0.

Re: Nur Ein X - Round Zero
We will be ranking the songs. The winner does not get immunity for Round One, but is still recorded for posterity. Reviews are encouraged, but not required. I can't speak for the other judges, but I plan on reviewing. Reviews from competitors are also encouraged.

Cool. Big field.
Look forward to ranking everybody furiously.
Brief reviews or feedback will no doubt emerge from time to time where appropriate.

Re: Nur Ein X - Round Zero
So...
I'm loath to single out individual bands before the results are in, but I have two questions, and I can't think of any way to address them short of bluntly asking.
Touched by "Touched by an Angel" - Sam, I don't begrudge you the ability to choose a new name for this competition, but can you offer me any kind of assurance that this band name predates the song lyrics somehow? I searched the archive to see if you've used that name before, and Googled the phrase to see if a band comes up, but didn't have much luck. You're advancing either way, I'd just like to hear your take on it.
And à tous les monsieurs - This is Frank again, right? Has anyone ever tried to enter twice before? I'm not sure how to handle that scenario. We only had 23 songs, so I guess just keep entering two songs a week until one of your identities is booted out? Unless this isn't Frank, in which case, Welcome, newcomer! Your voice sounds exactly like our former champion Frankie Big Face!
Finally, to Everyone else... All of the judges would be grateful if you made use of the Lyrics Thread. Many of you have already posted your lyrics, so thank you. We use this in instances where we can't quite make out the words from the recording, or need to tell whether something meets a lyrical challenge, or sometimes if we just need to see the words separated from the song to make judgment calls about them.

Re: Nur Ein X - Round Zero
It's at least FBF singing on both to my ears. BTW I love both songs.
In Nur Ein II it was established that there would be no cross song pollination of current competitors.
Check out page 18 of the very long Nur Ein II thread. I ask Niveous that specific question.
Rules can change, there seems no harm in it. He is the double- champ after all.
I also suspect Mr Meow.....

Re: Nur Ein X - Round Zero
TBTBAA seems to be in the spirit of the multiple personality disorders of Caravan Ray and Ben. I don't think their alters had previous submissions before their particular Nur Ein manifestations.
