...and here I thought we were finally getting around to doing that Keith Richards coverfight...

Not sure I can build a tribute to something I know almost nothing about...dirgetheband wrote:What about a tribute to everyones favourite Rob Lowe 80s flick?
Both my ideas are sad so far
I'd like to challenge myself to imitate Taylor Swoft with something vacuous and generic with this one but alas, I am so serious.

Re: Old flesh (Young Blood prefight)
Should be in this week, just realized the songs aren't due Tuesday, they're due Thursday. The trombone section isn't bringing the rawk like they're supposed to, but I've got some time to sort that out...

Re: Old flesh (Young Blood prefight)
That sounds fun. Unfortunately, I also think I suffer from the same malady. I think my entry for "Good Faith" was about as rollicking as I get, and that was a death 'n roll indictment of election day. Super cheery, eh?PepperJane wrote:Both my ideas are sad so far

Barring catastrophe, I'm in this round, too - three in a row! So far it's an emo-tinged blues tune; probably more my songwriting wheelhouse than the last two metal-ish entries. Not the cheeriest of topics, as you'll likely see.

Re: Old flesh (Young Blood prefight)
Yeah I think I'm going with my first idea: youth suicide. It was either that or a parental hope-saturated lament of having a disabled child. You can blame Paco for giving my decision the nudge that way also it's a lot more soulful, which challenges my playing... The latter idea felt like a folk-lullaby-cop-out. Though now that I listen to it, it's got potential. Still, Death it is. Any takers for the folk hope train collab tho? It could use some more lyrics

I would like to hook a 27 year old me up to the current 35 year old version. Anyone doing anything like that?

Yes, Saltwinter Waltz must ride again!
And in fact, my song this round is snotty and mean-spirited and not at all befitting a young father still basking in the miracle of new life.

In. I ended up tossing out the first music setting and just kept the lyric. I think I'm happy with this one!

In, albeit at the wire. Vocals sounded better through the cans when initially singing them, had to spend considerable time re-tracking them today. A first for me: KEYBOARDS! Yippie! I also re-graduated myself to my Tascam 488 for this one. Golly, I love that machine.

Re: Old flesh (Young Blood prefight)
Two Tuesdays during this fight period means BSS is in with TWO songs. Ken couldn't make it for the second Tuesday so I drummed and mixed and glennny played all the guitars. Also it's a double dose of martyr vocals. Enjoy!

Re: Old flesh (Young Blood prefight)
Hooray two BSS entries!
Some method acting may have come into play for me (insert excuses here) but to His Master's discression, a very raw roadside one-take recording complete with bodged up then corrected ending and a passing car, which for litrality I could not bear to remove... 14 hours late.
