Thanks a lot for posting the titles early. Having more weekend time to work on the song is super helpful.

Woot! Glad to see you back, and good to know that soundcloud is good for something. Here, Atticus wrote:Alright, I'm in. I think it's been like a year

I dunno about this title, but I'm often told there have been some better and some worse. The winners of these fights wrote great songs and made the titles work for them, pretty cool.

As usual we're working like crazy 'til the last minute. Got two days to get it squared away. Writing a song about High School has been weirdly cathartic.

Now for the bad news. The stupid awful corporate piece-of-shit restaurant that employs me awarded my 4 years with a 50% payrate reduction (along with the rest of the FOH staff company wide), so I've been job hunting instead of song writing. Sorry for this brief slide into the excuses thread. Hopefully life will be stable enough for the next one. What an awful way to spend winter break, I thought I'd be writing so much music

Re: Back in style (High School Safety Pin Parade prefight)
Hmm a couple hours late I believe, but it's now 6:36am in Canberra (relevant because I'm here, in Canberra, disclaimer for the trolls *cough* C-Ray) and I spent a good couple hours editing etc. woe is me I know.
It's a capella, cos I wrote it in the car over the lion's lunch of a nine hour drive for a songwriters showcase Monday evening, for which the challenge had been "write a singalong song". Sadly I didn't get to do even play it, arriving all afluster as they were beginning to pack up... which means I also didn't get to do the live video I had planned, which is why there are odd 'comedic' elements that don't work so well without a visual, and I left a couple of comments out like "and look at me go, I made it", and all the cool choir conducting I was gonna have to do, leading the band of people I'd never met.
Atticus man, I am sorry to hear that. I think that's one of those dreadful things that doesn't really happen in Australia (7-11'a chronic underpayment scam aside). You might have to become a rock star after all?
Oh, I can sleep now, hello floor

Re: Back in style (High School Safety Pin Parade prefight)
Thanks, Pepper! Yeah, this puts rockstar (or at least famous engineer) back on the front burner. Got a new job this morning already, though! Apparently I'm marketable in this space now.
I'm literally gonna start writing as soon as the next title is posted. I have to write a song that's so good that it's worth two, since I missed this one.
Also ps I'm stupid excited to hear your track, based on that description!

Re: Back in style (High School Safety Pin Parade prefight)
Sadly, being 4am after a little nap and trying to keep a little quiet since I was staying at a minister's house in Canberra, I think the performance is quite lack lustre. In front of a live audience would have been so much more exciting:-DHere, Atticus wrote: Also ps I'm stupid excited to hear your track, based on that description!
Also FYI the percussion couldn't continue because I wasn't good enough at the words to continue playing it in the same track as the main vocals, and not having my earphones meant that I couldn't add percussion without having yet another track where you can still hear the first layer. Meh.
