I knew this was going to be a synth fight, but I didn’t anticipate that it would also be a spooky chaotic noise fight with themes of political angst

Starfinger - noisy in a fun way, esp the solo/bridge area, a bit long for my taste
Jonathan Mann - adore the drum machine and Chariots-of-Fire synths.

dark side of the son - I like the spooky stuff and simple arrangement, but the “dots” are distracting

James Owens - Oh, that synth hook. A paranoid flavor of spook on this one, and I’m into it.

Heuristics- The lyrics show little adherence to a meter, which is fine. It’s fine. It’s ME that has the issue, not you.
shrts - lots of fun, especially the backing vocals. LOVE the ending
WreckdoM - cathartic chaos. The unending unsteady synth is an effective touch. But again, it went a little long for me
Bombernauts - OH YES. I’m in right from the beginning. The vocals could have used some different processing to sit better in the whole soundscape, but yeah. I am love this.

Macaque Attack - I stand in solidarity with this song. The beat and class strife are great, but what makes it is the accent.
BSS - I’m into the anger. I would have liked a little more melody I guess.
Vom Vorton - The chiptune thing resonates with me (obviously), and I especially love the claps/snares

- *BSS* - this is excellent! makes me think of dead milkmen or
something. yeah i love it.

- *Bombernaughts* - i like the vocals a lot and the arrangement is
interesting

- *dark side of the son* - it takes effort for me to get into a song
like this, and i see some value here, but the beeping is making it
really hard. oh i turned the volume up -- the beeping is some kind of
organ. is that morse code?

- *Heuristics Inc.* - this has a good post punk vibe like vintage H.Inc.
it reminds me of your Soft Orange Glow. nobody makes those swarming
noises like you do! i think this needs a distinct chorus.

- *James Owens* - i like the the synths a lot. particularly that
arpeggio-type thing that starts it off. i like the lyrics. oh i like
the drums too. this makes me uneasy.

- *Jonathan Mann* - i like the synth sounds and the chorus is super
catchy. it's a little too "curious george soundtrack" for my tastes.

- *Macaque Attack* - i like the dark/minor key thing going on.
excellent synths. this would have fit really well on the Jackal
soundtrack. that movie sucked, though. this song is good.

- *Schlimminy Cricket* - i like this except for the vocal effect and the
fact that the melody veers into christmas carol territory at points.
it's a good song.

- *shrts* - i thought you were abbreviating "shirts", but this song
makes me think it's "shorts". i like the vocals!

- *starfinger* - this was hard to mix, and i want to make it better. i
was trying to make a song that sounded like marilyn manson. i did not
succeed.

- *Vom Vorton* - i like the synths, particularly that low filter
sweep. and the solo.

- *WreckdoM* - this is weird, which is good. i like a lot about the
horns, particulary at the end. the endless kazoo-synth is neat but
annoying.

BSS - this is energetic and sounds like it would be great live, but I'm not that into the shouty vocal style so it doesn't quite hit that BSS sweet spot for me. The super-melodic guitar solo is great, though.

Bombernaughts - absolutely love this one. The drum beat has a great swing to it, the synths are delicious and the vocals are a perfect fit. Really excellent synthpop. Reminds me a little bit of St. Etienne.

Dark Side of the Son - interesting lyric and the bleeping organ is a neat idea for the theme, but it does feel a little overbearing running through the whole song.

Heuristics Inc - some cool sounds in here but it's a bit too messy for me to get a handle on it, everything feels like it's been piled together.

James Owens - this is wonderfully odd. It sounds like a vintage rave track to begin with but I love the shift it takes when the distorted vocals come in. The lyric feels kinda stream-of-consciousness but in a good way.

Jonathan Mann - very much enjoyed this one too. It's a damn fine pop song, and the dot-dot-dot backing vocals are inspired. I really like the mix of instruments you've used, the skittering electronic hihats and the blend of guitars and keyboards.

Macaque Attack - some absolutely brilliant beats in this one. I feel like I admire it (especially production-wise) more than I love it, but just a personal taste thing.

Schliminny Cricket - I really love the vocal melody for this one, it feels familiar but then goes to some weird places. Chiptune synths are fun.

shrts - like the guitar chug and the ending! I can't shake the feeling that one day you'll submit a ten-minute song just to mess with us.

Starfinger - your abrasive production style is exactly the kind of thing I would never usually listen to but to my surprise I do really dig your stuff, it's really inventive and I feel like there's plenty of humour to your arrangements rather than just an assault on the senses. Good stuff.

Wreckdom - I really like the honking brass and wobbly synth, you have a gift for an unusual arrangement that still works. I feel like this could use a different section in the middle to break it up a bit, but I guess that would be less in keeping with the lyrical themes. Enjoyed it, though.

Vom Vorton - this is me, was a slightly rushed job as I wanted to use it to kick off my FAWM but also had to get it done before a weekend out of town, but I'm pretty happy with it. Bit too much echo on the vocals.

Another excellent fight - Bombernaughts and Jonathan Mann my favourites with James Owens, Schliminny Cricket and Starfinger just behind.

I was doing the "no chorus" challenge over at FAWM :)

Bss - say what? Fun. i like the ending especially.
Bomber - ooh nice synths in the intro. With no lyrics posted can’t really tell what you’re saying, but i’d love to. Bring them up a bit in the mix? Still, i really like this. awesome.
Darkside - that blippy sound is pretty neat but it doesn’t seem to have a lot to do with the timing of the rest of the song. As-is, it’s distracting.
Hinc - I wanted to sound like Wire. I don’t really.
james - your vocals remind me of severed heads. These lyrics are really unsettling. A very interesting song.
Jmann - nice vocals. I like it.
Macaque - your cadence and rhymes remind me of pet shop boys. That’s good. Wow love the synths. This is great.
Cricket - nice synths. The vocals aren’t grabbing me. Overuse of autotune? A nice listen.
Shrts - short. I assumed you meant “shirts” but maybe you meant “shorts”. interesting.
Starfinger - i already told you what i think but i love it. Classic starfinger.
Vom - love the synths and vocals. Digging the groove, very catchy.
Wreckdom - horns are a nice touch. This is close to falling apart, but in a good way.

Favorites - bss, bomber*, hinc, jmann, macaque*, starfinger*, vom*
Stars on my favorite favorites.

Thanks for posting the lyrics. I especially liked the bit about the sonnet.
