Ew, yeah, that's gross. I'm pretty sure "She's still a child" is not meant in a literal sense, though, but figuratively, like she's still childish, emotionally immature, has arrested development, etc.vowlvom wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 11:58 amBSS - love the gang vocals and the punky energy, keyboard (or is it melodica?) melody also very cool. Kinda hate the lyrics though! I’m sure I’m missing some context but without knowing more about the song, this creeps me out too much to enjoy. A child who sends you dirty pictures? I’m lost.
Thanks! It's about living with twin kittens.lichenthroat wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 8:56 amVom Vorton—I’m not sure what this about, but I like it.
Good mix tips. I think I over-produced this one a little in an attempt to compensate for the weaknesses in vocals and (perhaps) arrangement that resulted from writing and recording while feeling unwell. The outro (and all the keys in fact) are a Casio PT-30 mini-keyboard! Fun little thing.Lunkhead wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 10:55 pmHm, this is maybe actually -too much- reverb for me in intro!! Good lyrics, I like the concept. The backup vocals I think are panned too far apart and too loud. The higher backup in verses is a lot more emphatic than the lower one so they sound a little out of balance sometimes. I love the cool outro. This one gets a vote too.
Duuude..that's harsh!!
It's REALLY tempting to make up some story or other about how we met, got into some minor trouble with a waitress and had to tip an extra twenty bucks and play it off like you're shit for not remembering. But, no. We've never met. I've not met any songfighters who weren't already Fawmers (and then only a couple.)Caravan Ray wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 5:36 am(My memory is failing me - I know you have been around for a long time - but we have never met in person have we? Apologies if we have - if we did, it was probably Portland - there is a lot of that trip I don't recall)
Cheers CR! I am definitely planning to keep doing this. I've been to Cornwall in May for the last three years but I'm not going this year! So that's unfortunate. But I appreciate the offer!Caravan Ray wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 5:36 amThis is awsome. You are awesome. I recall last NUR EIN - my daughter loved your Superman song - she will love this too (she is a big TMBG fan). I have nothing else to say - keep doing this. (Oh - and BTW - I will be in England around May this year, in London and Cornwall - if you are somewhere handy - PM me - I will happily buy your a beer or a curry or whatever...same goes for J$ if he is reading this as well).
I would be very happy to do this! I am aware that my vocal technique leaves a lot to be desired, so there is no danger of my ego getting bruised. Let me know what format you want the files in and tell me the best way to transfer them to you, and I will send them after I get home from work.Caravan Ray wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 5:36 amLICHEN THROAT:
I like this very much. I like the guitar. I like the structure. I like the lyrics. I like the cello. The vocals are slightly dodgy - but I assume you know that. As another gravelly throated old bastard I am wondering if maybe I could nail it better. Happy to have a crack if you want to send me the backing music. (Sorry if that sounds a bit wanky, not trying to be offensive - just saying I like the song and it might sound cool with better control on vocals
The singer is 38 years old, so I don't really know what to tell you, man Not specifically aiming for "a young voice," it's just the noise that naturally comes out of my face.
lol
