Didn't fulfill the optional challenge, but Phlebia's entry is in, since my schedule precludes further songfighting for the next few days!

Re: Drinking in the (Liquid Starshine prefight)
I’ve somehow managed to write a love song about binary stars that does not include the words “star” or, pertaining to the prompt, “liquid”.
Now to record it...

I'm heading to Portland for this festival momentarily. If submit your song during the next few days and you don't get your reply email acknowledging your song was received, that's why. Whoo!
Ken's Super Duper Band 'n Stuff - Berkeley Social Scene - Tiny Robots - Seamus Collective - Semolina Pilchards - Cutie Pies - Explino! - Bravo Bros. - 2 from 14 - and more!

Re: Drinking in the (Liquid Starshine prefight)
I was having a quick look at the lyric thread; the Hot Pink Halo song says "The Double Twinkle". Does that mean it's not called Liquid Starshine? I'm not sure I've encountered a subtitle on Song Fight! before.
Also, out of curiosity why do folks post their lyrics with the song title? Unless you're in the wrong thread we already know the title Just wondered.

Re: Drinking in the (Liquid Starshine prefight)
My "Please Move" song was named Among The Waves, if only cause "please move" was just in the middle of a random line in the chorus rather than a particularly memorable phrase on its own.furrypedro wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2019 5:39 pmAlso, out of curiosity why do folks post their lyrics with the song title? But to be honest I've mostly been doing it cause everyone else is.

I named my file Liquid Starshine for sending in, but it’s not what I’m calling the song in my head and it’s not in the lyrics (it ended up serving more as an inspiration of theme) so wanted to put the actual title with the lyrics. Hope that’s ok!furrypedro wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2019 5:39 pmI was having a quick look at the lyric thread; the Hot Pink Halo song says "The Double Twinkle". Re: Drinking in the (Liquid Starshine prefight)
Interesting set of admissions here.
I've definitely done songs in the past which were written using the title in good faith, and I've subsequently thought "I can definitely think of a better title than Rockopolousaninjananaphone Eternal - The Vishnu Cycle" (for example)
Having said that though, I really like this title. As soon as I saw it I was like, I know exactly how I want this to sound!
I'm not a mod but I'm sure it's fine. I've never seen anyone get disqualified from Song Fight! And since the title is slightly abstract and your song is about stars there is an obvious connection to the title of the fight.
Thank christ I didn't vote for it then, you cheating swine!

For the record, I am a fully fledged star and space nerd. I will take any opportunity to turn a theme to stars, so when I’m handed it on a platter it’s even better. (Here’s some of my actual artwork about stars and space: http://www.crumpart.net/#/indexerrorparallaxrefraction/ )furrypedro wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 12:43 amInteresting set of admissions here.

For this song, the “liquid” part made me think plasma and also gravitational tidal forces. There are types of binary stars that are called “heartbeat stars” and have really elliptical orbits, and when they get close to each other their tidal forces pull at each others’ surface causing light fluctuations and shape changes. It’s very cool: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heartbeat_star

Love the art, seconding the request for some fight artwork!
I've got half a song written for this fight but didn't get a chance to do any recording over an unusually busy weekend. Will try to get something done tonight if the door hasn't slammed shut by then, I hate the thought of even a half-written song going to waste.

Re: Drinking in the (Liquid Starshine prefight)
There are three ways to get disqualified (have your song removed from the fight):furrypedro wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2019 12:43 amInteresting set of admissions here.

- Be a bigot in your lyrics.
- Steal music from somebody else in an obviously non-fair-use kind of way.
- Submit a song that you wrote before the fight. (I'm sure there are instances of this that we didn't detect and are still in the archive, but consider yourself on notice.)
If you submit a song where the fight title is obviously not the title of your song-- your submission won't be removed, but the voters, if they are playing along, shouldn't vote for you. However, the voters, like the listening public in general, don't give a shit.

My co-worker said Liquid Starshine was obviously another name for unicorn diarrhea.
